book 4 was such a tedious read... i skimmed over a third of it...

im about a fifth of the way into the fifth book and was wondering:

 

is this just plugging in the missing chapters that should have been in the fourth?? like how it starts out with jon at the wall and sam, gilly and aemon are still there... also davos is still alive... that kind of irks me...

There should have been a little note at the end of the 4th and beginning of the 5th that explains it.

Davos' chapters are my favorites from the fifth, even though there are maybe 3 or 4. You'll be quite pleased when you find out what he has to do.

there was the snippet at the end of the fourth, but not in the beginning of the fifth... all it really said at the end of the fourth was that they (jon, bran, dany, tyrion) will appear in the fifth... it just somes fucking stupid to me, but w/e, he's made millions doing it this way...

So Jaqen H'ghar was the Alchemist who killed Pate in the prologue and then assumed his identity. Didn't realize this until I was reading a wiki about Jaqen yesterday.

Martin is quoted as saying that this was the worst literary mistake he has ever made. He wrote some of ADWD at the same time as AFFC, and then moved them to keep AFFC under 3000 pages. He then promised that ADWD would be out within a year because he had so much written already.

Finished book 2 today...as much as I wanna watch season 2 first, Im so intrigued by all the storylines developing I feel like i HAVE to start reading more
