If the Phils go a very modest 9-6 to end the season, the Braves will have to go 12-3 just to tie us. Not out of the question by any means, but a tough hill for ATL to climb. Obviously, the head to head matchups will be huge.

Fuck the just over .500 record. September's our month, time to dominate and leave no mercy. BTW......we still have a good chance to keep the best record in the NL, so we can have home field advantage in the playoffs.

Time for the Braves to cry uncle.

Agreed. I don't think the Phils will finish 9-6, but that was just a number I threw out there just to show how good the Braves have to play to end the season to catch us. I expect the Phils to finish strong like they always do and hopefully we can even get to a point where we clinch early and we can give some of our pitchers a much needed rest. I don't want to get too far ahead though. One slip up this weekend and it's a battle again.

I figured that what your point was.....my comment was more for those Braves bandwagon fans and Smuggins.

Although I am impressed that Smuggins is still interested and rooting for his team, unlike the rest of his fan base who were chirpin up a storm 2 weeks ago and now crickets.

It's a pretty fair representation of braves fans at a game. I have been there, crickets the whole time they are trailing and as soon as they go up a run, "Oh look at us now, we are the big bad braves, BRING OUT THAT THAR TOMAHAWK!!"

The attendance for the Braves is absolutely pathetic. They don't deserve shit. Smuggins is legit though, he's around win or lose.

The attendance for Wednesday's game was embarrassing. It's partly on the Braves for scheduling a day game vs. the Nationals after school gets back in, but there were barely 20,000 there from what I could tell.

The Phillies series should be packed, but it'll be too little too late by that point if we don't get our shit straight.

With a road series with the Mets coming up, I'm kind of confident since we own the Mets, but given our road woes and the way we're currently playing I wouldn't put anything past us.

A sweep by either team wouldn't shock me.

They've done it well. Meanwhile the Marlins laid down and died vs. the Phils.

(j.k, the Phillies are just playing REALLY WELL)

Just saw a crazy stat here (MLB makes their press notes available now which is awesome):

Braves have the best record in baseball from April 30 to yesterday. Even better than the Yankees which is what surprised me.

                    Top Records Since April 30:

                    1. Atlanta Braves 75-49
                    2. New York Yankees 74-50
                    3. Philadelphia Phillies 72-50
                    4. Minnesota Twins 73-52
                    5. Texas Rangers 71-51

Well the Phils ARE finally hitting, but I'm remaining a little conservative about it after this past series. The Marlins have clearly shut everything down on the mound. On the other hand though, the scrubs that the Phils have never seen before seem to be the guys that 2 hit them. So I don't know what to think.

Methinks Doc is in a bit of a dead arm period, as his last 3 starts have been a little less than spectacular. He has thrown enough innings for a normal man's arm to fall off, so lets hope it's just dead arm and not a case of him petering out down the stretch.

Final thought: I can't say enough how nice it is to see Hamels back and looking like the potential ace everyone thought he was after the 2008 WS.

That's quite insane, particularly when you consider what a slump they've been in the last couple of weeks!

Nah.........the marlins stink. I am actually wary of the Nats, they do have some decent hitters, and they don't give up even if they make some dumb mistakes.

But back to the Braves, looks like you guys are having trouble scroungin runs, so in Citi Field its going to be mission impossible for you guys. But that can work for you too, because the mets aren't scorin much either.

I'll be satisfied with 2 of 3 this weekend. We're not going to run the table to end the season, and we have Kendrick/Blanton going this series, so a loss is expected. Worst case is we lose 2 of 3 and the Braves sweep the Mets - who never seem to give us any help when they play the Braves. I think we'll win 2 of 3 over the Nats while the Braves sweep...putting them 2 games back for the big series starting Monday night.

The only thing a Braves fan can hope for is that the Phils handling of the rotation backfires, and their shittier starters get lit up in DC while we sweep the Mets.

I'd love to see DC take 2 of 3 while we sweep, but I'll settle for making up even 1 game at this point.

Meanwhile the Phils have the highest Attendance % in the league at 103.9, and the second highest avg. number of attendees at 45,000 per game, behind the Yankees.
