A flight carrying the Baltimore Orioles had to make an emergency landing in Jacksonville, Fla. on Sunday night after smoke was reported on board.

BALTIMORE (WJZ)– A flight carrying the Baltimore Orioles had to make an emergency landing in Jacksonville, Fla. on Sunday night after a fire on board.

The plane was en route to Tampa where the Orioles are scheduled to play a series with the Rays starting Monday night.

The fire was in the kitchen area.

“They came on and told us we needed to make an emergency landing, and then we were nearly free-falling for a few minutes as they raced to get us on the ground as fast as possible,” Ned Rice, who is with the baseball operations department of the Orioles, posted on his Facebook page.

Rice said the team is still in Jacksonville while fire crews inspect the plane.

        No injuries have been reported.
That's some freaky shit right there lol

Buck says Tillman tomorrow, so if it is the WC game, then I'm guessing it's Hammel if he can go, Saunders if he can't. I guess Saunders is probably the third best pitcher right now but I'm not sure he's the ideal guy for that game, so hopefully Hammel is able to pitch...

To be honest, if Yankees win tonight, I'd go with someone other than Tillman tomorrow and save him for Friday...just my personal opinion on it. I think that's a smarter move than going with him tomorrow in a game that could ultimately may not matter and then having to rely on a lesser guy in the actual one and done game...

              I agree. I don't trust Saunders against the A's.

I'm going to go ahead and call it a W for the Yankees tonight, so time to focus on the Rangers. Crazy as it may sound, I like this matchup...with the A's, it would have been another team that had no expectations coming in, so loose, just having fun, etc, with the Rangers, have to think they are going to be pressing and feeling some heat after blowing the division and being one of the "favorites" going into the year. The Orioles are playing with house money...I feel pretty good about this.

Friend of mine who is a die-hard Rangers fan is packing it in, and has no confidence of winning in Baltimore. Call me crazy, but I'm also pretty confident in facing Yu Darvish.

The only problem I have is the same thing I said yesterday...it's probably going to be Saunders who starts the game and I don't have a ton of confidence in him. The earliest Hammel can pitch is Saturday, per MASN. If they can get by the Rangers, they'll have a pretty good shot, IMO.

I'm actually OK with Saunders in this game. It's a one-off that no one has yet to experience, but Saunders has the most post-season experience for anyone who can start for the Orioles, so it makes sense to put him in this game if Hammel isn't ready to go.

Sucks to not win the division, hopefully this new wild card format doesn't cause them to lose out on playing in a full series.

I am sure we won't hear until tomorrow but signs now seem to point towards Steve Johnson getting the ball, based on the Rangers lineup and the fact that Saunders is 0-3 with an ERA of almost 10 in Texas.

Yeah, I was thinking Saunders with his playoff experience, but with Saunders getting lit up in Texas, that's a good call. Should go down to the last possible moment to get a one-up on Texas.

Well, Showalter went with Joe Saunders. I guess he wants to go with the playoff experience. Though the thing with the game being a one-off, Showalter can have a very quick hook if needed.
