I really don't understand why they keep doing this. We did it earlier in the season too. Why handicap ourselves by playing a man down. The bench is already terrible as is just bring up a healthy body to plug in somewhere.

Rolen has missed 7 games counting tonight. Just retro DL him for 8 more days, he'll probably sit out a few of those anyway.Comment

Dusty should win manager of the year, and it shouldn't be close.
This team is pulling away without Votto, and every time Dusty pulls a string that nobody agrees with, it ends up working out.
I don't like everything he does, but I will say this. He comes up with a plan, and he sticks to it. And it's obviously working. He's patient, he sees things out, and the players love him. He has handled injuries and the bullpen perfectly.
Barring a collapse, MOTY & a three year extension are in order.

Reds manager Dusty Baker has long been a punching bag to of his many critics. The offenses that are most often cited: Dusty's supposed skill at ruining arms, his preference for veterans and his tendency to give far too many at-bats to the likes of Neifi Perez and Corey Patterson.
I swear I made my post before I read this.
The Dusty Myths have no merit.
-Arm killer! Riggleman overworked Wood. Prior is the only arm on Dusty's mantle, and are we really going to classify him as an arm killer for one player? And i'm still waiting for anybody to name the Giants & Reds pitchers who Dusty has destroyed. Sometimes guys get hurt. It's time to let it go.
-Dusty hates those damn young players. Yawn. Hates them so much that currently two rookies play every day (Cozart, Frazier), and a third platoons (Mesoraco). And a rookie (Cozart) leads the team in AB's. Four of his five SP's are 26 or younger. Three other current Reds starters were starting full time when they were rookies. This Dusty Myth has even less merit than the 'Arm Killer'.Comment

"I would like to see Dusty Baker as a member of our organization for many years to come," Castellini told MLB.com on Wednesday, as two days of quarterly Owners' Meetings began here at the Four Seasons Hotel. "That's it."
"He's done a heck of a job. A heck of a job, you bet. He's a heck of a guy," Castellini said. "I'd like to see him add a World Series win with us and go into the Hall of Fame as a Red."Comment

Then there is this-next 2 nights: Bailey 8.24 ERA last 4 starts, Arroyo 1-7 7.28 vs Phils, 0-2 18.00 at Citizens Bank Park.Comment

I'd settle for taking one game, and be ecstatic with a split.
Some teams just have another teams number. Reds never beat these guys, especially in Philly.Comment

Agreed. They are what, 1-15 in their last 16 games in Philly? Its pretty wild. By no means am I in panic mode, I just would be happy with 1 win from this series at this point. These are the series when it's nice to have a little cushion in the division.Comment

Mesoraco sent down to AAA, JJ Hoover called up. Not a move I expected but it makes sense to get Mesoraco constant at bats until September 1st. Its only a week away.Comment
