No Simmons and no Teheran, so this is a fucking steal. Frank Wren is a Jedi with this shit.

Really bummed about Prado, that will take a while to get over, but if that helped us avoid including Julio, so be it. 1 year of Prado is more than worth 3 years of Upton and 6 years of Teheran.

      Fixed.

One bad move after another for the DBacks. I'm interested to see what shitty deal they get for forcing a Kubel trade.

I will say though, given they basically destroyed their leverage Arizona did OKAY with this deal. It was a deal that didn't make any sense from the beginning, but given their approach to it, they did okay.

They got Martin Prado with 1 year of team control and no prospects Atlanta values particularly much. I'd say they did pretty horrendously, given the whole "Let me trade the face of my franchise who is entering his prime years" thing.

They had zero leverage though. I'm talking about relative to the fact that they publicly said "WE WANT TO TRADE THE FACE OF OUR FRANCHISE!" and the fact that he blocked the trade they very clearly were eager to make.

Arizona's been trade-raped this winter. It's going to take them a long time to recover from it, as I don't think they even added anyone that has the long-term value or even potential of Upton and Bauer. It's amazing ownership there has let this happen.

That Mariners trade would've been better for them.

Right, I guess if you remove Towers actively destroying his own leverage from the equation, they did ok. I still don't think 1 year of Prado and a prospect package highlighted by Zeke Spruill and Nick Ahmed is at all a good return for J-Up, but that's why Frank Wren pulled the trigger.

Yeah totally, in a vacuum the deal is absolute horseshit.

If the Orioles give up anything of value for Kubel, I'm going to be pissed. Staying put and not making the move is better than doing that.

                          Sums it up pretty well:

@jmccarroll21 Towers started the deal trying to get Simmons. Then moved to Teheran. Then moved to Graham. Then got none of them.

It would really suck to be a Diamondback fan right now.

Prado's a useful player, but he will never be a superstar. And after this year, he's on the wrong side of 30. Not the time you want to be trying to resign him long term.

It's okay he only wants 12 million a year, so they can just give him Justin Upton's money.

Should Atlanta be concerned that he hits .250/.325/.406 on the road for his career?
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"
