Not really understanding this post. Baseball players taking steroids and becoming bigger/stronger/faster was merely a byproduct of consumption? They were really just trying to have enough stamina to play Game 137?

I'm not entirely sure what point Larry is trying to make but we've had this discussion at least a hundred times. I don't really want to do it again because we aren't going to convince each other but here's a few links for reading:

There are many chemical compounds available to enhance performance, and the only way to address their use in baseball is through a stringent testing program.

I think he's saying that most of these guys are using steroids to strengthen injured muscles to aid in recovery so they are 100%

I wouldn't say for some it's a by-product of consumption. I am sure there are plenty who took it to get stronger, but there are many others, the ones like Alex Sanchez who you would least expect, took it to help in the healing process, whether it's wear and tear over a 162 game season or recovering from an injury.

Which is what steroids are far better at doing versus making Barry Bonds/Roger Clemens legendary players.

Yes, that is what steroids are designed to do. But I wouldn't say that people like Bonds and Sosa gained muscle mass as a byproduct of consumption. I think they had a plan in place.

I would argue that that's the case for Clemens more so than not. Helping to repair his body with all the stress on his throwing arm and lower body is huge.

It is hilarious how the media is beating a dead horse with Arod and performance enhancing drugs, yet with Lewis who is at the SB they're like, "Well, he denied it, so what else is there to talk about?" If Lewis wasn't in the SB this would be even less of a story.

Yeah, I think the term "byproduct" is thrown around way too much these days...

When Lewis says he is blessed, I believe him.

The guy is like teflon , nothing sticks to him and the media really does look the other way with this guy no matter what.
