    Seriously.

As long as the penalties are a slap on the wrist, this will always exist.

The reward outweighs the risk every single time. You can take PED's that help get you the leverage to that big financial deal that you want, and then your only penalty for getting caught is a 50 game suspension.

Let's look at Gio Gonzalez and let's say he took PED's. He turned his career into $8.4 million a year on average for five years, totaling 40 million dollars.

A 50 game suspension on $8 million per year is roughly 2.6-2.7 million. He is risking $2.6 million to make $40 million. There's no risk here. If I'm an athlete, I'm loading up on PED's to get a big contract knowing that I will still bank an extra 10+ million in the long run.

The only true way to defend against PED's is to either throw out the idea of lifetime bans or voiding contracts. I don't like the idea of using certain doctors only, because it's your body and you have every right to see whomever you want.

Alex Rodriguez believes that this is all a conspiracy hatched up by MLB and the New York Yankees.

Alex Rodriguez is taking his wildest swing yet in his fight against steroid allegations: The Yankees and MLB are conspiring to push him out of the game.
Sources say the embattled Yankee star is “scared” that bigger forces are at work to try to discredit him and sink his career. Holed up in Miami, Rodriguez has been huddling with an army of lawyers and PR people as the performance-enhancing drug scandal enveloping him intensifies.
“He’s scared, because he thinks this is so unbelievably false, and he’s wondering who could be behind this,” said a source, referring to last week’s Miami New Times report linking A-Rod to an alleged Miami-area performance-enhancing drug scandal. “He thinks something could be going on larger than anyone might think.”
The source added that Rodriguez is wondering if the Yankees or even Major League Baseball are behind the latest controversy.
A-Rod’s concerns intensified as agents from MLB’s Department of Investigations met in Miami Monday with editors of Miami New Times, a weekly newspaper that posted hand-written records and files last Tuesday linking Rodriguez and several other players to Anthony Bosch, a self-described “biochemist” who is being investigated by baseball and federal authorities for possibly providing performance-enhancing drugs to the players.

Ryan Braun, MLB's 2011 MVP, also has had his name appear in the records of a Miami-area clinic that has allegedly distributed performance-enhancing drugs to players.

Milwaukee Brewers star Ryan Braun's name is in records of the Miami-area clinic alleged to have distributed performance-enhancing drugs to a rash of baseball players, and Major League Baseball will investigate the link to the former MVP who tested positive for illegal synthetic testosterone during the 2011 postseason.

Three of the Biogenesis clinic records obtained by Yahoo! Sports show Braun's name. Unlike the players named by the Miami New Times in its report that blew open the Biogenesis case, Braun's name is not listed next to any specific PEDs.

MLB is investigating the Biogenesis clinic and its operator, Anthony Bosch, to determine the breadth of Bosch's alleged PED dispersal throughout the sport. The league could pursue punishment through non-analytical positives – evidentiary links to players without positive tests – and one source said it will not limit the potential discipline to those whose names are surfacing for the first time, meaning those who have faced suspensions in the past could again be tried.

He is on a list that includes Alex Rodriguez, Melky Cabrera and Cesar Carrillo, who the New Times reported received PEDs from Bosch. Also on the list are New York Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli and Baltimore Orioles third baseman Danny Valencia, who weren't listed near PEDs, either. The record matches a document the New Times posted with Braun's name redacted and Cervelli and Valencia's cut off.

Representatives for Braun, Cervelli and Valencia did not return a multiple phone messages left by Yahoo! Sports.

MLB Network on top of it, breaking news and all, regardless that one of the games stars is involved in a potential scandal.

                No pulled punches here.

(No idea if the nfl and nba networks would shy away in a comparable situation, but worth acknowledging)

Craig Calcaterra, noted PED user apologist, making a fool of himself on twitter as we speak RE: Braun.

Also, in a related note, i'm about to be blocked by baseball writer #3.

So can we make him serve that 50-game suspension now?

No dude, this is total bullshit. His name isn't even linked to specific PED's, bro. Nevermind that he already failed once, and is on a list with many known users. And that $30K he owed the clinic? That was a mass shipment of Flintstones vitamins & protein shakes.

Braun says he's listed because his attorneys used the guy as an expert in T/E ratios, testing in preparing his appeal last year.

Hahaha. Ryan Braun wins again. See you in June Gio! Ryan Braun comes out ahead with the money excuse. Now everyone else looks like a fool for denying the existence of steroids at this place.
