Halladay is by far the most consistent pitcher in the league, save MAYBE Johan. Hes been doing it consistently for over 5 years now. Dude is a horse. And the fact that so few ppl have mentioned him in this thread shows me the lack of respect he gets. For shame.

Pretty simple logic.
I think the mark of the best pitcher is asking yourself.. if you had a game you HAVE to win.. who would you want to take the mound for you?
In that case.. I'd say Santana or Josh Beckett. Lincecum and Greinke are outstanding young pitchers as well. And while Roy Halladay is consistent.. and a damn good pitcher in his own right.. I like Johan or Beckett in a big game over anyone.
I think what holds Roy back is not his fault.. he has never pitched in the postseason.. so he's overlooked a lot because of it.Last edited by Hasselbeck; 05-14-2009, 10:42 PM.Originally posted by ram29jacksonI already said months ago that Seattle wasn't winning any SBComment

He's not mentioned more because he's not the best pitcher.

Zack Greinke has a career record of 40-46 and a career high 13 wins in one season and you guys honestly believe he belongs in this conversation?
Jeez.
One fast start and he's friggin Bob Gibson.
Some of you guys really need to find out that baseball was played before 2009.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

Hell even Dan Haren is having an amazing year and he's 3-4. Dudes got a 2.09 ERA but does not get any run support. Which is why I hate these best pitcher arguments because a lot of people leave out run support, which if really low can hurt a guys record i.e. Dan Haren.
