Yesterday, I heard on WFAN league sources are saying that Carmelo Anthony is leaning toward Houston or Chicago(IMO, Chicago would be a better fit). Apparently he's ticked at Phil Jackson for discussing his contract in public. Stay tuned.....
NYPost story on this says Knicks brass are not worried after they met with Melo and Leon Rose Friday. He'll opt out but it now depends on how confident he is that Jackson can build a strong enough roster around him (and perhaps doing it with Melo not taking a pay cut).
They say the Rockets would have to trade Lin and Asik without getting anything back.
The Bulls would have to amnesty Boozer, trade Gibson (for nothing) and not sign Mirotic to have space for Melo.
I'm leaning towards Melo leaving for a chance to win right away.

Bargnani has told the team he'll opt in to the final year of his deal. Amare guaranteed to do the same, they & Melo have a formal date of Wednesday to officially decide.

I'm indifferent with him. Maybe it's just having faith in Jackson that if he wants to get rid of Shumpert, there's a reason. If he could just get a consistent jump shot, he'd be a real nice player besides his defense.
If they can buy a late 1st rounder, I'm hoping they can get Tyler Ennis.
Carmelo Anthony has decided to opt out of the final year of his contract with the New York Knicks and become an unrestricted free agent, according to multiple sources.
^ We knew that was going to happen. Most of the ESPN talkies I listened to this morning have him going to Chi-town.
Working a sign-and-trade would be great if he really wants to go there. They could even take Boozer back, I don't care. Try and finagle more picks out of the deal.
Chandler & Felton to Dallas for Dalambert ($3.9M team option for next season), Jose Calderon (owed $22M over the next three seasons), Shane Larkin (on rookie deal, so under team control through 2017-19), Wayne Ellington (one year remaining) and their two 2nd round picks tomorrow.
The trade has been finalized as above...but the Knicks are reportedly trying to flip Dalambert & Larkin to a third team. That's from WSJ's Chris Herring.
