    Randy Whitman on the radio yesterday said wizards are currently in trade talks with another team about moving a player or two as well as making some free agent additions. He seemed pretty excited when he was talking about it and was convinced the wizards aren't done making moves this off season.

    This could mean 2 things.
    A) we finally found a suitor for one of our terrible contracts (god I hope it's Nenes, love the player hate the contract) and are hoping to bring in some free agent bigs.
    B) we move a no name like jan vesely or Chris singleton and bring in some vet minimums later in the off season who will have little to no impact.

                Don't understand this. "one of"? Nene is the only guy on the team who has guaranteed money past this season...

                  Okafor easily. His fire is the reason John Wall had such a great second half of the season. He's still a rebounding machine and a quality defensive big. Not to mention his expiring contract and he's not sitting out due to injury every other game.

                  Don't get me wrong though I love me some nene

                    A contract doesn't have to have multiple years to be a terrible contract. Ariza still has a terrible contract. I would love to see that expiring unloaded to a team tanking in exchange for a quality player.

                      Why would a team give up a quality player for an expiring mediocre player? Confused.

                      Tanking =/= throwing away talent.

                        Clearing cap space is not throwing away talent either

                          Only players on bad contracts are gonna get dealt straight up for an expiring like that rofl. So that doesn't really solve the contract problem Argath referred to earlier.

                            Tell that to the Rockets and the pile of garbage they traded for James Harden.

                            You can go a long way in the days of the new CBA with some expiring deals and draft picks.

                              Holy shit you're fucking dumber than I thought

                              I really don't give a shit about freeing up cap space, never said anything about that. I want to get rid of the terrible contracts we have or at least replace them with quality players. Perhaps a swap of Ariza and Asik? (Before you write an 8 page thesis on why this would never happen its just an example) I want players who will A) see the court and B) not get carried off in the first 10 games. I really don't give a shit if its a contract like Asiks that pays $15 mil it's last year as long as its a quality upgrade preferably in the post. There are plenty of teams out there who will unload players the wizards can use to free up cap space for this free agency. Deep or not, it has Lebron and Melo and teams will do a lot for just an outside shot at landing one of them, see 2010 free agency.

                              This team is turning the corner to a win now mode and looking at a couple potential years in the playoffs if they play their cards right. No big name free agent ever wants to go Washington, the best option is to trade some expirings to bring them in. We're in a perfect position to do so. Plus we have the $8 mill Blatche contract coming off the books next year so well be able to swallow a poison pill contract like Asiks (again an example for the sake of consistency) for a year.

                                Ok dude you're smarter than me and in the right on this topic and probably any other one we're going to discuss in the future.

                                I will say though that Blatche is already off the books (salary cap wise, his deal doesn't count against the cap but they still have to pay him) since he was amnestied.
