Tough fucking break.
Prince Amukamara out indefinitely with broken foot
Posted by Mike Florio on August 6, 2011, 9:25 PM EDT
Only a couple of days after signing his rookie contract, Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara is out definitely with a broken foot, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.
Specifically, Amukamara fractured the fifth metatarsal in his left foot.
He’ll undergo surgery to repair the injury.
The nineteenth overall selection in the 2011 draft, Amukamara was the last unsigned first-round pick.

Since the lockout ended…
-Signed all the draft picks
-Osi Umenyiora fiasco
-Re-signed:

RB D.J. Ware
WR Dom Hixon
WR Darius Reynaud
WR Michael Clayton
G Kevin Boothe
DE Mathias Kiwanuka
DE Dave Tollefson
DT Rocky Bernard
-F.A.'s Unsigned:
WR Steve Smith
QB Jim Sorgi
LB Keith Bulluck
LB Chas Blackburn
LB Gerris Wilkerson
S Deon Grant
S Michael Johnson
-FA's Signed:
C/G David Baas
P Steve Weatherford
TE Ben Patrick (has left the team to deal with family issues)
DT Gabe Watson
TE Daniel Coats
G/T Stacy Andrews
RB Andre Brown
QB David Carr
C/G Chris White
(plus whatever undrafted FA's they picked up)
-Players Lost
WR Derek Hagan
TE Kevin Boss
DT Barry Cofield
Big question marks in the secondary (safety), LB corps (as usual) and at DT.
Offensive line will be pieced together it seems plus nothing settled at FB or TE.
On the bright side, our special teams should be head and shoulders better than 2010.

i dont like Kiwi at LB either. if its every once in a while to mix things up in a scheme or something then OK, but not full time. Kiwi's first foray into a full time LB lasted about 2 quarters into the season thanks to Jason Witten and i dont want to see that again.Comment

They say Kiwanuka will be SLB on 1st and 2nd downs. Assume they just want to have as many of the pass rushers on the field early as possible. Whether Osi or JPP starts opposite Tuck...then on 3rd downs they can send all the DEs (Tuck, JPP, Kiwi and Osi) with their hand on the ground.
I'm not sold on the guy playing LB either but I have faith in Fewell's schemes.
That's not confirmed. They are still under the belief he'll be gone for at least 2 months. Just take it as it comes I guess.
