You're 40+ YEARS beyond Starr's career and he's still one of the most popular Packers in GB history. The fans had a huge love affair with Starr as well, and still do, 40+ years after his career ended.

We are watching Brett's popularity go down in GB. That's a shame. He pretty much brought that on himself.

Wait just a little while. Starr was never viewed as a traitor, prima donna, and never will be. Brett is kind of shooting himself in the foot as far as GB fan popularity goes.

That could happen with his age, but the 6,000 consecutive game streak disagrees.

He may get hurt, but I don't see him retiring until after the season is over. You really think Chilli will have the gohonas to bench him?

If Brett's are is strong enough, and Minny coaches can keep him in check, he should be good for your team. Of course I don't want him to do well, but that's just because I don't want to see any Viking, Bear or Lions QB do well.

Dude, he's getting older. See last year!!!! And he's not keeping himself in shape. I wouldn't be surprised to see injuries catch up to him.

Joe Montana was considered a traitor when he went to play for the Chiefs. That didn't seem to hurt his popularity. Also, in no way is Favre a traitor. He wanted the Packers, the Packers didn't want him. Nobody has the right to tell him to retire when he still wants to play, simply because of his legacy in Green Bay. Favre's jersey is still #2 on the Packers sales charts. The ignorant fans think he is a traitor, but then again, the ignorant fans are also the ones saying he is the best quarterback of all time.

How is he not keeping himself in shape? He really hasn't done much different this year than the past few years. He's been working out with the high school student five days a week.

Montana went from an NFC team to an AFC team, not to one of the 49'ers rivals. And wasn't he traded? Did Montana retire, then wait until just before training force a late comeback in order to be release so that he could go to a heated rival?

Brett wanted the Packers on his own terms. McCarthy and Thompson ran the team on there own terms, not Brett's terms. Brett couldn't get his way. So Brett wanted out of GB. Hence the fake retirement. The un-retirement was Brett trying to force GB's hand to release him. His whole Gretta infomercial wasn't Brett wanting to go back to GB, it was Brett trying to get out of GB and onto the Vikings. This is nothing like Montana being traded to the Chiefs. Montana didn't go about trying to force a release to join the Cowboys. Completely different.

Brett's the one that decided to retire. I think it was a ploy from the beginning. Brett didn't like management because they weren't giving him the preferential treatment. They wanted him in camp and OTA's. They wanted a decision before FA and the draft. They wanted to run the team. Brett was getting his nose out of joint because the GB org was trying to reel in the special treatment.

The Viking's press conference was just today. Wait a little while. My guess is his GB Jersey isn't nearly as popular as of today. Not as popular as it was yesterday.

Brett's behavior since the breakup is giving more credence to the GB org during the breakup. To much of this seems to have been orchestrated by Cook and Farve. That's not ignorance. Starr will never be seen as a traitor or prima donna. Brett's hurting his relationship with GB fans. I hope it blows over and people forget these past few years, but he is hurting his legacy in GB.

My guess is, Brett's will be MUCH more popular, now selling in two NFL shops. :D

Did you see him? He had a belly. He's not working out like he should. He's not keeping himself in very good shape. Throwing footballs to high school kids is not the same. He's starting to look more like Billy Kilmer.

Mike Cameran keeps himself in good shape. Brett, not so much.

I would think that his popularity in Minny is going up. But I would expect his popularity in GB to be decreasing.

Favre has been throwing footballs to high school kids for the last 17 years while avoiding training camp. It's no different this year. The only thing different is his age, but as long as his arm is 100%, which it is, that's the only real shape he needs.

GB didn't always let him avoid training camp. And the new regime was trying to get him back to training camps. That was part of Brett's problem.

                            AND....

As you get older, staying in shape helps you avoid injuries and helps you play better longer. You're "only thing different is age" is becoming more and more important.

He's a year older. I don't know if his arm is 100% or not, or how likely it would be to stay that way. My view on Brett's health (arm and everything else) is the same view I take with Kurt Warner. He could still be good, I wouldn't be surprised, but I wouldn't count on it, because of age.

Last years problems were do to injury. He will be better than last year. And last year wasnt that bad either. The Jets would have had a worse season without Favre.

With the way Chad played, I don't know if they would have had a worse season. The Jets made some big FA changes during that off season.

Brett's problems last year were due to injury. And that comes with age. Age+Injury+reckless style of play can lead to bad things.

If Brett stays healthy, still has the arm strength, and stays under control, then he will be very good for Minny.
