I'd love to see Hester turn into Steve Smith or anyone decent. But he never will because he has no feel for the position. But I guess as long as he puts up better numbers than most teams #3 options you'll be happy.

LOL even more at excuses. When your argument for him progressing revolves around his ability to catch now and his ability to out produce Tedd Ginn and the Colts #4 option.
Not being able to contribute to putting up decent stats is progression. Its simply undeniable. If you want to argue levels of progression you can do that with someone who likes Devin more. I simply said he progressed, and he did. Thats not debatable.

Since his 1st season as a WR:

      His YPC have gone down.

His Long catch has gown down.

And even though he has been starting the past two seasons he has only managed to improve his TD number by 1 over his first year. The only thing that have gone up really are his accumulated stats and that's just because he is starting now/on the field more. His per catch etc numbers have all dropped.

He contributed more in 2007 as a part wime WR because of his return abililties. There's nothing Hester does now at WR that he did better than in 2007. Not a single thing.

I'm just going from what I've heard and read.

Angelo always wanted Hester as a WR, while most of the other staff saw him as a partime DB and a returner.

And don't think Angelo didn't pressure Lovie to play him more in the offense after he gave him that big deal. It's no surprise to me, that after he got that deal his punt return and kick return numbers were nearly cut in half and his receptions were doubled.

Again, I don't know for sure... just going from random articles I've read and interviews I've heard... to me it's not of the realm that there was a power struggle over Hester. We've known that Angelo and Smith have been on different pages for years now, this offseason and the search for Offensive Coordinator being the shining light.

Pretty simple explanation to this is they were trying to use him as more of a traditional receiver then they were doing early in his career, when they were more focusing on him just beating guys down field.

I really dont want to argue about Devin Hester anymore.. hes already garnered more time then his skill set justifies.

            Ok...

So what did Hester do better this season than last?

I'd still rather have Austin Collie.

Does this include his ability to shrug at the QB signifying he has no idea what is going on?

3 years down the line and he still can't learn one of the simplest playbooks in football.

                    Fantastic.

He didn't know where to stand or what route to run in a West Coast Ron Turner led offense adjusted to FIT Hester's retardedness.

He's going to be worthless in a Martz offense.

I promise Devin has atleast 4 catches of 40+ yards next year.

                            Progression, baby!

I dont think its hate Griswald, I just think that everyone sees Hester for what he is. nd what he is now is....well......still a project. If the Bears wanted to trade him they could get a 4th or 3rd at best pick for him.

I say pick up some journeymen guy, add him to the mix of D.A., Knox, and Bennett, and go from there. Also lets hope those three previously stated can learn the playbook i a offseason.
