Apparently the McCaskey's gave Phillips and Co. a lot of money to go nuts with.

As usual, LOL at ProFootballTalk's articles....

Chicago needs to bolster the defensive end position due to the tragic passing of Gaines Adams, for whom the Bears gave up their 2010 second-round pick in October.

Yeah, having Gaines Adams around would have solved everything. Here was a guy who couldn't even make the team...he was relegated to the practice squad. In a macabre way, Adams dying helped the Bears because now they don't have to pay a practice player a multi-million dollar contract.

The Bears getting Peppers and Chester Taylor would be big, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Tweet from Geoff Mosher (Philly area newspaper columnist)

Just spoke to Peppers' agent, Carl Carey. Said Peppers will visit #Eagles if Bears can't get deal done. Eagles have thrown a number at them.

Adam Schefter: Tweeted before and will tweet it again: barring an unexpected breakdown, Julius Peppers deal will be done with Chicago by this afternoon.

Bears need all the help they can get. If there were a cap I would call them stupid because they are more than just a DE away from having a chance at making the playoffs.

LOL at the logic by PFT because Adams wasn't hat good although the Bears had high hopes for him...but he wasn't on the practice squad for the Bears. Sadly, he was good enough to be playing for them.

I'd rather see the Bears get Peppers and a big time safety if one existed. But Peppers and Taylor I'd be happy with.

he's a great player..but like i said, the bears will be out of contention for another year or two.

I can't wait to see Bears fans get their hopes up again and then see them heartbroken when they don't make the playoffs -- just like last year with cutlulz

The Chicago whopper: Julius Peppers' contract in Chicago is expected to pay him roughly $40 million in the deal's first three years.

Could be good. I've always liked this guy. When he's motivated and playing hard he's an absolute force off the edge, and he's proven he can do it without much help on the D-Line. If Harris were to get it together they could be a dominant pair, but the Bears won't contend. Offensive Lines take a long time to construct, and they're the key to offensive success.

We need secondary help now. I don't want to get my hopes up too high because as a Cubs/Bears fan they are usually shot down. But if he is motivated to play as well as Briggs/Urlacher/Harris then they would be very effective.

The Bears are also looking to trade Olsen supposedly. This could be good or bad depending on what happens this year. If the Bears make the playoffs and Lovie/Martz keep their jobs for another few years and we get a few good draft picks out of him then it is a good move. If they don't then we trade a good TE away and we are stuck with a new coaching staff next year then it turns out to be a bad move.
