Peppers to Chicago?

The Bears are also looking to trade Olsen supposedly. This could be good or bad depending on what happens this year. If the Bears make the playoffs and Lovie/Martz keep their jobs for another few years and we get a few good draft picks out of him then it is a good move. If they don't then we trade a good TE away and we are stuck with a new coaching staff next year then it turns out to be a bad move.Comment

This signing reminds me of Philly's signing Jevon Kearse.
It has disaster written all over it.
$40M over three years for Peppers is an extraordinary leap of faith.
I'm glad Philly didn't win this bidding war.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

Id argue that its not that questionable. The Bears lacked in a pass rush, they went out and got a single asset that makes them instantly better in that area. Yes it was expensive, but what top FA isnt. When was the last time a FA signed with a team and there were arguments that he was worth every penny?Comment

As a Panthers fan...
I don't feel Peppers is worth that much money. Granted, he's one of the most freakishly talented players in the game today, but he takes too many plays off and disappears for too long during games to be worth that kind of a deal.Comment

^^ this
Been on vacation all last week so a bit late to the party here:
This contract dollar amount is fucking laughable. A very good DE, but nothing that is going to make Chicago significantly better. Like Freeney, Peppers gets a lot of hype but disappears way too often or is a ghost when it counts. $42 million guaranteed (highest Def. player guarantee ever?) is God damn ludicrous. Only reason it has an ounce of favor is because there is no cap.....but should the cap be back in a year or two, Peppers better be doing backflips while singing Zippity-Doo-Dah out of his asshole, in order to justify the effect it will have on their cap room.
P.S. I also think the Chester Taylor signing is stupid for both parties. Forte can do everything, and do it well. Why they dumped that much change on a guy like Taylor is odd. And why Taylor wants to go to another place and assume the same roll as second fiddle boggles me.Last edited by f16harm; 03-07-2010, 05:56 PM.Comment
