But you guys are closer to Dallas than I am. Just my opinions on this.
Jenkins and Scandrick are all better than they have shown. They have track records depicting as much. Their technique this year has been god awful. Every time Scandrick gets beat, you can see that he never looks for the ball. Correctable. They do need to do something about the safety and ILB position for sure. Sean Lee should start or at least get a lot of reps the rest of the way.

DL is fine, just need to get a massive nosetackle. Ratliff is out of position in this scheme.

Then again, I would welcome a return to the 4-3, or even a hybrid defense.

Dom Capers should have been our defensive coordinator. Best example I can find of Wade's coddling nature was him not getting hired.

rayman, I couldn't be more thrilled to have Capers. Just look at ALL of our injuries and how well that defense has played. Have to say, I'm glad you didn't get him.

Capers reminds me of Fritz Shurmur. There aren't too many people better at being able to scheme for the talent they have on the field.

Capers has always been a great coordinator, but for some reason he's bounced around a bit. He's also not given enough credit for what he did with the expansion Carolina Panthers team when he was the HC there.

I've heard his contract is up after this season. Is that true?

I'm just saying...he said in the past he'd love to be Garrett's DC.

In fact, had he taken the Atlanta or Baltimore job, that was going to be the case.

Hey, if he sucks as bad as everyone says he does, wouldn't you guys be hoping he DOES have a job next year?

                      1. It takes more then hollering at guys. You cant just go from a schlub to a hard ass and think its going to work. Players in that locker room have no respect for Garretts scheme or playcalling. Players on both sides of the ball have been calling him out for 3 years. If they dont respect you ,you can scream until your throat pops wont make a difference.

                      2. If he wanted to right the ship he would have benched Barber and given Choice more carries and be smart enough to know his playcalling was hurting the team on both sides.

                      3. If Jerry was such a bad GM the Cowboys wouldnt be as "talented" as to be such a disappointment. The team is stocked with talent. If a coach is too much of a pansy to get Jones out of the way honestly its on the coach. Jimmy and Bill both managed to do it so it can obviously be done. IMO if its not worth the trouble of doing then its not worth the trouble of coaching.

Agree completely with 1 and 2. On 3, I'm not sure that any coach that has the gravitas to tell Jerry to butt out of the locker room is going to be a candidate for that job. The Chin could do it but he's looking at that Panthers job. Holmgren wants to leave the front office and get back on the field but I don't see how he could end up in Dallas considering his situation in Cleveland. Who else is there?

Could not be more true if etched in stone tablets and carried down the side of mountain by an old dude.

I personally would welcome Tony Dungy but I think Garrett keeps the job going into next season.

Rams29Jackson says it true, and as we all know (and as he has told us numerous times), he is superior to us in every aspect, so who are we to argue with him?

I can't see Dungy wanting to work alongside Jerry Jones.

Ditto Cowher. Ditto Gruden. Ditto Holmgren.

I think Dallas ultimately either retains Garrett going into 2011, or plucks a John Fox type coach, or they take a flyer on an up and coming assistant. Someone who is willing to put up with Jerry's BS for a shot at coaching one of the more prestigious teams in the world of sports.

That said - whoever inherits this team next year is going to be very well off. The talent level on the Cowboys far surpasses what you'd typically see from a 1-7 team. And now they will probably have a Top 5 pick to boot.. barring some crazy hot streak.
