Sure, if you only take into account what you saw yesterday.

I'm not doing that. Pay attention.

The only thing I learned about the Cowboys this weekend was that the players obviously gave up on Wade Phillips and were ready for him to go. I'd hold off on crowning Garrett.
The players quit on Wade Phillips because he was a softie who let them do whatever they wanted.

    That's done.

      Proven fact.

Now what you guys have to look for is how the Cowboys play the rest of the season. If they end up playing with the same fire and solid football, I don't see how they can't hire Garrett for the full-time job.

If Gerrett has some success, could this work against Jerry? Would this lose Jones the option of going after a proven HC?

Maybe Minny sticks with Childress just for this reason.

Contrary to the widespread belief, Jerry wants Garrett to succeed.

          Badly.

Rayman, I'm not saying that Jerry wants Garrett to fail, I know better than that. I was just asking if the decision to fire Wade for Garrett could hurt Jones, limiting his coaching options for next year. If Garrett has any success, but isn't the guy, Jones is stuck with him for a while.

And, I'm wondering if that's the reason Minny has not made a coaching change. If Frazier(SP?) has any success, Wilf would lose his coaching options for next year and have to stay with Frazier. Is Wilf not making a change so he can go after a bigger name coach?

I doubt any owner keeps hold of a stupid coach because they're afraid the interim guy would succeed.

From what I've read, the main reason Childress is still in power is b/c Wilf didn't want to pay him the $10 million or whatever he's owed. And even if the players hate him, they haven't quit on the field.

Not afraid that an interim guy would succeed, but have just barely enough success to remove options. I'm sure Jerry would be pleased as punch if Garrett would end up being the next Landry/Walsh/Shula.

I think Jerry would love if Garrett earned the job. He's already paying him like a HC.

We'll see how Garret does after the initial HOORAY spurt is over.
First part came true. We'll see about the second.

I hope he keeps the job. I like what I saw.
My bad. I could have sworn you were one of the many Dallas fans blaming and bashing Garrett for all of the Cowboys issues over the last couple of seasons.

Actually, I'm 100% positive you were calling for his head a few times in the chatbox because of his playcalling. But I never saw you're post about him as a HC.

Either way, one game means nothing.

The fact that the Cowboys looked like a completely different team in terms of effort just because of their OC was promoted to HC is somewhat embarrassing and disgusting, if true.

I just think the Giants were due for a let down and a loss moreso than Garrett firing up the Cowboys. But only time will tell on that.
