    Delany to Revisit Division Names

In an interview with WGN Radio in Chicago, Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany expressed concerns with the fan reaction to the "Legends and Leaders" division names announced earlier this week.

To get a 90 percent non-approval rating was really surprising. It showed that we didn't connect with our fans in a way that we wanted to. It's humbling, to say the least, because we're trying to build fan bases, not push them away

"We’re still listening and trying to figure things out," Delany said. "We'll probably make an assessment about whether or not it’s sustainable. We’ll try to do a little education, let it breathe a bit and then probably revisit it after the first of the year.”

The reaction to the Big Ten's unveiling of its new football division names -- Legends and Leaders -- has been almost universally negative. The outcry about the names has been substantial from fans, media members and casual observers.

What is wrong with a north and south or a east and west. They tried something different and failed miserably.

So rather than just change the names now, they're going to wait a year for their 90% non-approval rating to become a 100% non-approval rating, then change the names? :stupid:

I will give him credit for being reasonable about this and listening to the fans. I'm surprised he's not being stubborn about it, most prominent men are.

Huge step in the right direction for the Big Ten.

I think they should keep the "Leader" division name, but change the "Legends" division to "Hosen". Then you can combine them to form lederhosen!

Imagine if they applied the same logic to the college football post season.

Do you understand that we are in December? It's like 14 days until the 1st of the new year.

Because they didn't divide the divisions directionally(like they should have).

Name it the Great Lakes and Plains division or something.
