People think this is Madden, where you can just sign up the 77 OVR Collins to replace the 59 OVR Painter, stick him in the lineup, and you are automatically better. The real NFL doesn't work this way.

Painter knows the offense, Collins doesn't. Collins is 40 years old and presumably out of shape. Painter and the other backups have been building chemistry with the current WR's for a month.

They will have to dumb things down for Collins, he has no time to catch up. Plus, he isn't very good anyway.

Wouldn't shock me one bit if Collins doesn't even end up starting. Not a significant upgrade.
it doesnt make a fuck what wayne gets. polian and the coaches know painter is garbage and wayne knows it to. everytime the ball doesnt come out on a slant and he is overthrown he knows painter should have been a painter. that's great that he took his teamates back and all, but inthe end painter wins 1/g and collins can win you 4/6. we all know the minute manning can stand up with pads on he is in anyways, so why make it harder for your team to make the playoffs?

They should have spent more time in Hattiesburg. Favre coming off of the couch is better than Collins any day of the week.

Looks like a PR move to comfort some fans by bringing in a 'name' player.
