Peyton Manning possibly out for the year?

This is a blog ran by Fred from Sportsgamer/PastaPadre

An Indianapolis radio station is reporting a rumor that Colts’ quarterback Peyton Manning had a third surgery this week and is out for the season. WNDE radio host Jake Query reported a source told him that Manning had a third surgery either Sunday or Monday and is likely done for the year. A second source told Query that the surgery was on Manning’s lower back, not his neck, as was the case with two previous surgeries. Query also tweeted the following on his Twitter account:

Can you imagine the repercussions if what this guy is saying is true and Manning misses the year? It makes the AFC South wide open. Seriously, other than the Colts nobody is very good. The Texans are picked every year to make some noise, yet never make the playoffs. If they can’t win it this year without Manning playing, I never want to hear about how they are going to do a damn thing again. Colts fans are already in denial. Just look at the first comment on the radio show link from ‘Steven Wilson’.

Is this guy serious? I can’t believe some idiot actually gave his post a thumbs up. Maybe he assumed Steven was being sarcastic, because he surely couldn’t be serious. Who’s going to ‘step up to the plate and deliver’? Kerry Collins decrepit body, or the quarterback who sucked at Purdue, Curtis Painter? As a Purdue alum, I can tell you right now Painter stinks. He did nothing at Purdue, and won nothing. I’m surprised he is even in the NFL to be honest. Don’t get me wrong, I wish him all the best, but he’s not very good. Either way, Colts fans better hope this rumor doesn’t end up being true because it’s going to be a long season. Goober was going to eventually retire, maybe you’ll get an early taste of what the post-Manning era will look like.

His whole career could be over, when ur dealing with the neck area and having multiple surgeries on it is never good. If he gets hit in the right spot where he has had his surgeries he could end up paralyzed from the neck down.

You sorta wonder about it. Manning has nothing left to prove and likely could become Bill Polian's successor. Manning is such a football junkie.

8 weeks ago he had a second neck surgery in the past 15 months. He should of been good by 4-6 weeks, it is taking a lot longer for his nerves to regenerate. Also there is rumors about him needing a third surgery. We don't know what is exactly wrong with him, only speculation. But you start to wonder.

If True it'll be a hell of a season. I want to see Indy play 16 games without Manning. Maybe a New England - Matt Cassell situation will come up with Kerry Collilns bombin that shit and Joe Addai/Darren Evans straight goonin on niggas in the backfield.

or maybe not. but shit I'm still kind of excited about the season.

Schmucks have been talking about peyton missing the year for a week.

It's not news. It's all guesswork. Neck injuries are no joke and it sounds like Peyton is just waiting for his neck to strengthen up before practicing.

Food for thought... say this is true and the Colts have a miserable season and land the first overall pick.

Do they draft Luck then try to trade Peyton in 2012 or 2013?

Pretty sure trading Peyton is off limits since any bonuses and such shit would hit the current Colts cap.

Besides, Peyton is 36 next year...it's not like he's playing for another 3 years. You'd want Luck to sit for a year and learn from the master.

No way. Although Manning is getting up there he is still a damn good quarterback.

If they have the #1 pick, they have no choice but to draft Luck. Even Manning would agree with that.
If Manning comes back healthy next year at 36, he holds the fort for 2-3 years, then hands it off to Luck.

Getting the #1 in a Manningless year should be a dream come true for the Colts (and their fans in the long term). You end up with a Favre/Rodgers or Montana/Young situation where your enormously talented youngster gets to learn from one of the best to ever play the position. With the issues Manning is having with the neck surgeries, I doubt he plays more than a couple years after this one...and the guy is more qualified and ready to be a coach than 99% of anyone that ever became a coach. Even if he didnt choose to pursue that route right away, he's already proven he has the charisma for tv. How much better an analyst would he be than any of the schmucks espn or fox or abc uses now?
