They aren't even allowed to make the most of their supposed "free education". The valuations that everyone is throwing out may be what the college is charging, but it's not even remotely close to what the actual value of a college degree is these days.
Most HR reps will tell you nowadays then unless you have a highly specialized degree field all they are looking for is that you graduated college and have a 4yr degree. Regardless of what it's in. They just want to know you have the degree and are trainable. A degree is still very valuable.

Pand said something similar about Purdue as well. Doesn't change the fact that most of these kids aren't there to be engineering majors so it's not really an issue to begin with of someone wanting to major in something difficult and being shot down.

Bit of a different issue IMO. If it were up to me the school would have to honor the scholarship for the players 4-5 years at school if they gave it to him. Injuries or not. That's one change I'm in very big support of.

That we can agree on. Some schools will honor it and give you an academic scholarship, some will give you a fake medical hardship (aka Alabama) and other schools will just put you out to pasture completely.

It's definitely a case by case basis, when it shouldn't be.

...Yes, they would still be generating billions for a school without receiving anywhere near equal compensation.

What point are you trying to make?

That's what I was going to say. Non-scholarship athletes are exploited too.

                Then don't play?

Compensation vs wage/payment/benefits is always off. It's never equal. You see it every day in the working world. I'm not sure why people are so shocked that it's happening at colleges.

Great, everyone is "exploited". Don't play the sport then. Pay for a degree and enter the working world.

No sympathy at all for the players.

                Do.

You don't think the difference is more glaring in college athletics though?

Actually I'm the exact opposite on this issue.

If I was for the players I'd be more Communist.

I'm more of a capitialistic pig.

I'm not moved by this idea that someone is making money off of the players. So what.

Again, go play D2 ball or go play professionally.

This is how it works. You play, we give you free schooling and exposure to the NFL for the less than 1% who that matters to. Don't like it, get lost.

And let's cut out the drama about the idea that these kids can't eat. Please. Go eat Ramen with the rest of the student body. All college kids are broke, cry me a river.
