    Samuel Jacob Bradford

I know it usually takes three years to really evaluate a QB, but I've heard "potential elite" quarterback after the season Bradford had last year. Now, I now St. Louis has had some injury problems (Wes Welker Jr. is out for the season, Jackson's been on the mend), but he's definitely been on the down since his huge rookie season. I mean, it's remarkable that he's only thrown two picks this entire season considering the team around him, but his overall numbers are showing decline and I don't know what that's credit to because I haven't really been able to watch him play.

Maybe W2BTD or someone else can shed some light. Is the verdict still out on this guy or what? Is this all Spags fault?

    Here's a question:

If St. Louis gets the #1 pick in next year's draft, should they trade Sam Bradford and drop the last insane rookie contract pre-lockout?

As crazy as it sounds, I think they should. Andrew Luck looks like a no-brainer and Miami would give up multiple picks for Bradford.

Spags has had a profound effect on the entire performance of the team.

They don't have a ton of talent on offense besides SB, Jax and the TE right now...but the offense is all kinds of bad.

Wouldn't they take a huge cap hit if they trade Bradford?

To be honest, I'm not sure what the cap hit would be.

theres more math to it, but, typically speaking its the signing bonus divided by years left, which is why teams frontload signing bonuses so much to guys they dont expect to cut - softer cap hit if the years themselves are cheap. the rams would take like a 30 million hit or some shit by trading Bradford.

First of all, if the Rams get the #1, there is no chance they would take Luck. Let's get that out of the way. I understand that the general sports climate in 2011 is an impatient one, but for fucks sake, Sam Bradford has had 21 starts. This team is not starting over at the position, it's absurd to even consider it.

              Now on to Bradford.

His rookie season, statistically, was historical. More TD's than INT's, 60% completion percentage, well over 3,000 yards, started 16 games. The list of rookie QB's to do that is very short.

This season, the production is down and the team is 0-5. I can assure you that the QB postion is not the problem. Let's look at some facts.

-The Rams lead he league in drops. In fact, the Rams have more drops than any team in the NFL since the beginning of 2010.

Mike Sims-Walker dropped four passes in the first quarter of the Washington game, got benched and demoted to scout team, and never saw the field again. He was cut today. Danny Amendola, the teams best WR (who is a nice player, but would be the third best WR on almost any other team) played one half of one game this year and is on the IR. These were the starters at WR heading into the season. Bradford has the worst collection of WR's in the league, by far.

-Only Jay Cutler has been sacked more than Bradford this season, and over the last two seasons.

Jason Smith is a bust as a #2 overall pick at T, and the Rams overpaid for what has turned out to be a bad OL. Bradford is suffering the same fate as Marc Bulger (remember that guy?), who got beat up and essentially saw his career end prematurely behind an awful line.

Like I said when Bulger was here, there is no QB who would succeed on this team. No weapons, bad line, inept coaching. If you watch Bradford play, he's more often than not getting sacked, or delivering a ball on target that ends up being dropped.

The Rams have two players on offense who could definitely start on most teams - RB Jackson & G Dahl, and maybe two others who might start on a few teams, T Saffold & C Smith. The Rams have the worst roster in football, and that's directly at the feet of Spagnuolo, who has full roster control. This is year three, and the team still has no offensive talent, which is inexcusable. Spags picked these players, the Martz/Linehan players are long gone.

Bradford is playing his ass off, is punished by sacks and drops, and hardly ever throws INT's. He is NOT the problem.

I'm not knocking Bradford, W2B(4)TD. Just curious.

if they get first pick they need to trade away for value.

                  Hopefully lloyd helps them.

IMO the worst thing that happened to the Rams this year was their DBs getting hurt early. Rams have literally picked up DBs off the street past 2 weeks.

I don't think you want to compare Bradford's rookie season to Freeman's. Not even close. Not even in the same stratusphere.

Besides, what is your point? This isn't a Freeman thread, so get lost geek. Nobody cares.

I like Bradford and he has legitimate excuses but I still hold him to a higher standard than 0-5.

He's a nice player and the team is bad but the fact is that Tarvaris Jackson has twice as many TD passes, a much higher completion percentage, and a better QB rating than him.

Excuses only mean so much. Bradford should be playing better than he is right now and I expect him to.

They don't have any receivers worth a damn and their pass protection blows.
