Poor zoneblitz. Reminds me of when Bjorn Borg tried to comeback to tennis while still using a wooden racket.

Im not interested in bickering & being the old heel-turn zoneblitz anymore, that was just a gimmick because i liked messing around. I actually wanted to discuss this thread topic because im interested in it. I asked FirstTimer a question twice and both times he refused to answer & continued with the insulting/bickering. No thanks.Comment

Poor Kirk Cousins.
Oh hey, Kirk. Your "job" is football. It's paying for school. Excuse if I don't weep for you not having $100k in debt when I write my bills at the end of the month and my wife and I are paying back her loans while you are counting pennies at the gas station, while only a few months from getting a contract with the NFL.
Now, I think the simple solution is to offer football only scholarships. if dudes really dont want the education, why shove it down their throat? if a guy is only there to play football, dont give him a scholarship, just let him play football and let him make his own money. I never really understood why the NCAA forces guys to sit through, say, an archaeology class, when he's there to learn how to be a professional athlete. It would be like making someone who is studying to be a doctor go field punts.
On the other hand, if someone wished to be a true student athlete and actually valued their education, then ok, give him the scholarship and make him play by the rules, but I see nothing wrong in "Majoring in football" so to speak.Comment

Apples and Oranges. You and I are not in the same universe as a collegiate/professional athlete. our situation is completely different and does not apply to sports. Period. When you and are in school, we are LEARNING how to make money. When a dude straps on a football helmet, he IS making money, lots and lots of it. They are glorified interns, except a typical intern doesnt earn his employers 900 million dollars a year (nor does the average intern put his body on the line like football players do, and nor does he risk being totally unable to work in his field everytime he goes to work)

Football "teams" make money. One individual player does not make everything. (unless they're peyton manning apparantly)
Football players out of any of them need to have an education to fall back on simply because the sport brings them in and then spits them out and the way most of these players have no ability to save money at least they have an education to fall back on when they are out.
I'd honestly would love to know what % of football players when done with their careers move onto some other form of "normal" work as we know it. Not everyone can become a tv analyst or coach can they?

Comparing an intern to a football player the way you did is beyond bad.

If baseball players have the right to skip education & just play (in the minor leagues), so should football players (in the NCAA which is the NFL's minor league).
It shouldnt be the NCAA's job to cram education & abstinence from money down players throats. NCAA is nothing more than a glorified minor league with forced education & no money.Comment

let's not pretend academics has anything to do with sports. academics are a whitewash to justify the obscene amounts of money the NCAA makes. the NFL supports it just because its a basically free farm system where everyone gets paid except for the people that make the money.Comment

Not your decision to make. If an athlete doesn't give a fuck about his education and wants to focus strictly on being an athlete, that his choice. Sure, the 3rd stringers, the walk ons, they need the education, they are truly "amateurs" but a guy like Cam Newton was never going to stay for his degree. You think Trent Richardson gives a fuck about his post football career? Andrew Luck? these guys ARE professional athletes and should be paid accordingly.

I love college football and basketball, but the NCAA are a bunch of hypocrites. They pontificate about how student athletes need to follow the rules, but they vigorously recruit players who have no business stepping into a college classroom.
If they want to be serious about cleaning up the game then I would suggest bringing in student athletes that would actually be accepted to your school under normal circumstances and want to follow the rules.
But I'm not sure how ESPN, CBS, FOX, and all their corporate sponsers would react to that. So until then the NCAA will continue to keep forcing square pegs into round holes.Comment

That would destroy college & pro football, most of the best players wouldnt qualify.Comment

Also, guess what he's getting a free damn education so yeah he's making "alot" of money. Kirk Cousins could be on MSU for 4 or 5 years. Strap up a helmet every Saturday and "make" 25K a year and at the end of four years have a degree from a Big10 institution with NO DEBT.
Poor poor college football stars.
You think the college game isn't teaching the kid how to make money? Hint* These players learn and develop into NFL level players.Comment

"My" rule?
I never said I was in favor of any "rule". I said let the kids pay for schooling themselves. I never once said "make a rule", have this be a rule, here's an idea for a rule, whatever.
YOU ARE THE ONE THAT BROUGHT UP THE RULE.
The first time I actually addressed any "rule" I said it "might not be needed", even though the schools would be in favor of the "rule" if it exited. I never supported any rule, never even came up with it. You injected a bunch of raving overregulation bullshit.
You went on it and failed to realize I never said there should be a rule made. Just that the schools would see a chance to get out of paying out money for scholarships if your awful Mad max world existed. I never said the NCAA would have to regulate it, just that the schools wouldn't see the need to hand out scholarships.
Quit trying to take your illiterately fuled ass whipping into private you chickien shit faggot.Comment

And i said the schools would WANT TO pay for the scholarships, because they would want any advantage to get prized recruits.
If you werent such a retard you'd realize that schools today are under no obligation or "rule" to give scholarships, they do so willingly because they want good players & good teams & revenue.
Here is more proof of your retardation. When you say "maybe not", it implies that maybe yes. So i asked you what reason could there possibly be for schools wanting that rule, and since you are a piece of shit you didnt answer & continued your usual asshole tactics.Comment
