For the reading impaired...
I never said Marshall wasn't.
Please quit playing dense. You're better than this.
at bringing up Tebow because as soon as Tebow got the job Lloyd wanted out and Denver was more than happy to see him go.
They both are headaches/clowns but at least Marshall consistantly puts up numbers meanwhile Llyod floats around the NFL as a third tier WR living off one flukey successful season.

Bears knew of Marshall incident before trade
The Chicago Bears were aware of a weekend incident involving Brandon Marshall before they acquired the wide receiver in a trade with the Miami Dolphins, the team said Wednesday.
In a statement from general manager Phil Emery, the Bears said they were fully aware that Marshall was accused of punching a woman in the face outside a New York club, an incident police are investigating.
"Both the Bears and Dolphins were aware of what occurred over the weekend,” Emery said in the statement. “We decided to move forward with the trade. We have high expectations for Brandon as a Bear.”
The Bears traded two third-round draft picks for Marshall, who has three years remaining on his contract.
Marshall was involved peripherally in an incident at a club in which his wife was hit with a bottle during an altercation neither of them was part of, according to a statement from Marshall's attorney, Harvey Steinberg. He said Marshall took his wife to a hospital where she was treated for "serious injuries" and Marshall hopes to "assist authorities" regarding the matter.
However, the New York Post reported that the woman, Christin Myles, filed a police report saying that during the fracas Marshall hit her in the left eye, blackening it.
Marshall has a long list of off-field issues, and has twice been arrested for suspicion of domestic violence. Marshall was involved in a fight at a Denver night club that eventually sparked a shooting that killed former Denver Broncos teammate Darrent Williams.
The NFL no doubt will look into the latest matter. Steinberg has denied any wrongdoing on the part of his client.

LOL at Marshall "slugging a woman in the eye" to the point of it being blackened and not getting arrested for it.
Fishy story is fishyComment

Personally, I think Brandon Marshall is incredibly overrated by most. He's not a top tier WR. When he's got a good QB throwing to him like Cutler...sure...he'll look good by proxy, but overall...he's good, but nothing special. They Dolphins traded two 2nds for him, they had him for two very pedestrian years, and flipped him for two 3rds...overall, not a bad return on an obviously depreciated asset.
He's dropped 23 passes in the past two seasons and has a total of 9 touchdowns.
Dat ain't good, ya'll.Comment

Marshall is on that second tier level of WRs in the league.....I don't hear anyone proclaiming him to be Larry Fitzgterald or Andre Johnson. However, the truth is the past 2 season he's had Chad Henne and Matt Moore as his QB and his put up decent numbers. I don't get people's issue....drops are an overrated stat as they don't take into account targets, ball placement, etc. It was obvious when he played with Cutler he had better days, as Cutler is a better QB, so it is reasonable to expect him to play better than what he did in Miami. Outside of Larry Fitzgerald who is elite I don't see many WRs putting up All-pro numbers with mediocre QB's.Comment

I thought it was a fair trade, I don't think the Dolphins got fleeced. The Dolphins overpaid to get him. The new regime in Miami didn't want him, and I think they got a good return considering his numbers the last two years.
However, I'm not a big Brandon Marshall guy. This guy can't seem to keep his hands off of women, which is going to get him booted from the league. If I was running an NFL team, I wouldn't trade a box of jock straps for this nut.Comment

If they plan is to use him as a downfield guy he will go down in flames because that's just not what he does, which is shocking because he's so huge.
Hopefully Mike Tice or whomever is calling the plays on offense is smart enough to realize this.
They know what Marshall can and can't do.
I think you're underselling Marshall as a down the field guy a bit. He's not Randy Moss but he can go up and get it if need be he's just not spectacular/great at it and it shouldn't be his primary function in the offense.Comment

This is now six years of almost annual incidents involving Marshall in untoward situations, most surrounding the same circumstances, and the second time a team has gotten rid of him because they are tired of dealing with him.
If this turns out to be even 80% Marshall's fault and he did hit the woman, what happened to his wife notwithstanding, I think there's a very real chance he gets the same deal as Jones with the year long suspension with the availability of a review after 10 games.Comment

Awesome thread.
Bears fans think he is the next coming saviour for there offense and dolphins fans are trashing him to no end calling him a bust.
This is normal for most players but the level it has gone to in this thread is fantastic for us outsiders wanting laughs.
Have the bears fixed their shit Oline yet? Marshall won't be getting any passes if cutlulz is still on the ground every play.
Leafs offseason training!Comment

He's better than Johnny Knox, Earl Bennett, Devin Hester, and Roy Williams.
Heck he's even better than Brandon Lloyd. :dtrain:
I guess by your logic, a team shouldn't upgrade a position of need until one unit is upgraded first. :gayrod:Comment

Get used to it, it won't be the last time. The guy is a nut.

Finally some people who get it.
Look, I understand why Bears fans are happy, but this is a player who has been criminally overrated since he was on Denver catching 100 balls per season (80 of which were likely 5-yard outs and bubble screens, like that joke of a 20-catch game). Still a good player, but not a great player, and like it or not, at or near the same level as some of the other recently dealt WR's. So to get two premium draft choices for the guy, even before we consider his immense baggage, is more than fair, and we obviously have a bunch of Madden GM's in this thread who have no concept of the worthless trade value of NFL WR's. Clearly the Bears are gambling, here.
Comparing him directly to Lloyd or Holmes or whoever and breaking down careers is missing the point. Nobody cares what Lloyd or Marshall did four years ago. Ancient history to a GM. The recent past shows that the two players are right around he same tier as players (and c'mon, bringing up Marshall's QB's, considering the collection of stiffs Lloyd has played with? Be fair). Plus, Marshall is the kind of guy who looks much better in the boxscore, and not quite as good when you watch him play.Comment
