thats why I say both Marino and Dilfer are elite. They were both highly successful in various aspects of the game as individuals and part of a team.

Trent Dilfer is 154th all time in passer rating, below such NFL luminaries who played during his era such as Rex Grossman, Josh McCown, Quincey Carter, Gary Hogeboom, John Friesz, Bubby Brister, Rodney Peete, Hugh Millen, Craig Erickson, Ty Detmer, Tim Couch, Jim Miller, Chad Henne, Jay Fiedler, Tarvaris Jackson, Damon Huard, and wait for it...wait for it....TONY BANKS, the shit bum scrub who he failed to beat out for the Ravens starting job during the 2000 preseason.

Trent Dilfer is not elite. Trent Dilfer was fortunate enough to be behind center for a team in a game that he had very little to do with winning. And even if Dilfer threw for 400 yards and three scores in that single game sample, he still wouldn't qualify as elite.

Trent Dilfer will tell you he isn't an elite QB.

Trent Dilfers SB ring to me is like Big Bens 1st ring. He was just along for the ride, hell the Steelers won that first ring despite a TERRIBLE game from Ben, no one in their right mind could have looked at him after that game and called him Elite, when he went 9 for 20 and threw 2 picks.

All your stat arguments and game manager accusations dont mean shit when you never played the game at the highest level. They have and won or nearly won the ultimate prize. That is an elite QB. That said, when you are the the winning QB on the winning team for that one game, you are elite for that one day no matter what anyone says. Especially the trolling pinheads who post here
You lost me with Trent Dilfer as an elite QB.

I didn't hear people saying Big Ben was "elite" when he won his second SB. As much as I hate the Steelers....there are probably only 2-3 Qb's I'd take over Big Ben.

Of course Troy Aikman, one of the most overrated quarterbacks to ever play, would say winning is what says you're elite or not. It's easy to win multiple times when you have the second best offensive line of all time, one of the best defenses and every offensive weapon you need, Troy. I mean Brad Johnson has more impressive stats than Aikman, he just didn't have a dynasty around him.
