Jets 'Leaning Toward' Starting Greg McElroy

    Rotoworld

Per CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, Jets head coach Rex Ryan is "leaning to" starting Greg McElroy at quarterback over Mark Sanchez in Week 14 at Jacksonville.

One source called it 65-35 that McElroy would be under center against the Jaguars, and Gang Green's coaching staff liked the "improved pace and verve" of the offense in the roughly 20 minutes of game time with McElroy in. Ryan is set to meet with GM Mike Tannenbaum on Monday night to discuss the matter. McElroy is certainly not the long-term answer in New York, but he gave the team a definite boost. Tim Tebow is not considered a candidate for the job. Sanchez is due $8.25 million in guarantees in 2013, so he's likely not going anywhere. We'll have plenty of updates on the situation throughout the week. McElroy would not be a fantasy option.

The Jets are an absolute mess. The guy completed 5 passes for 29 yards. He's hardly the answer.
I agree Sanchez isn't the answer either, but Peyton Manning couldn't work with that supporting cast. Their receivers and RBs are horrid.
I realize Tebow is injured, but the only answer they have now is Tebow. But that also doesn't matter, because the Jets are not making the playoffs and clearly they don't think Tebow is the future.

If all three were 100% healthy, I'd just say fuck it and play Tebow. Why the hell not?

Hey i'm all for any change we get at QB, if he proves he can play that's all that I care about. If he can't we know that we don't have a starting QB on our roster for 2013.

            Hello Vick?

From that article: "...Sanchez is due $8.25 million in guarantees in 2013, so he's likely not going anywhere..."

If he is still on their roster next year the Jets get my vote for worst run organization in professional football.

              Sanchez is a bust.

Goddamn Jets. I really can't understand how a team can be so shitty while expecting and trying to act like they aren't.

                  RIP West

I'd bet anything a Jets team with Peyton Manning is no worse that 8-4 right now.

With those receivers and backfield, I bet against that.

Take a good look at what the supporting cast he won with on Sunday had done in their careers before this season... That same o-line that "couldn't protect Kyle Orton or Tim Tebow" is now "one of the best in the NFL".

Minus Dan Koppen, it's the same 5 guys. And they were playing well before Walton went down as well. Knowshon Moreno actually look like a functional human being when he plays with Manning. I have no doubt that he could be doing the same things he's doing with Demaryius Thomas with Stephen Hill and Kerley is the kind of guy he could do a lot of damage with from the slot.

I was never a big believer in the whole "the QB can change the face of your team" mantra before this season but our offense is night and day from last season and unless you wanna credit that to Jacob Tamme, Joel Dressen or Brandon Stokley there's only one new face on that side of the ball for Denver this year.

Somehow the Jets moved the ball effectively under McElroy. The game could've been 14-6 all said and done with 2 McElroy TD led drives if Greene doesn't fall at the 1.
