I believe he was selling t-shirts or something.

While Greg Anthony was helping Nevada Las Vegas win the NCAA basketball title in 1990, he also was pushing teammates to promote T-shirts manufactured by a company he had an interest in, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Basically, Anthony had his teammates wearing his shirts after they beat Duke in the NC game, but UNLV had an agreement with another company to provide shirts. So, Anthony was messing around with UNLV's ends.

this reminds me of when AJ Green was suspended for 4 games for selling his bowl jersey

The NCAA Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement upheld Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green's four-game suspension on Friday.

Don't forget that the UGA team shop was at that same time selling a game worn AJ Green jersey for auction.

If it's true....as the rules are now, I would be pissed but wouldn't be crying over him getting kicked out (personally). I'm laughing to this 1 UT fan (Tshirt fan) saying if it was a UT guy, he doesnt think UT fans would be supporting their guy. I'm sure there are plenty of Aggies that are blinded by the success we had and him doing the unthinkable (winning Heisman). When A&M moved to the SEC and had success, they had to know that the school would have bad light shed upon them; fans/students shouldn't be complaining about how everyone is out to get A&M. People calling him Leaf 2.0 are absurd...I only hear people debating if Johnny will be drafted AT ALL.

edit: UT fan was on local radio

We all agree that the NCAA shouldn't be controlling what a player can earn off of their name, but given his stature Manziel has to know better than to do this. For the NCAA this is low hanging fruit............hopefully for Manziel, A&M and college football fans the NCAA handles this like they did the Cam Newton situation when the NCAA responded swiftly and let him remain eligible for the SEC championship game. The NCAA will probably realize that having Manziel play this year will earn them much money than to have him sit.

Yeah there are two separate issues here. One, which I think we all agree on, is the absurdity of the rules. The second issue is whether Johnny actively broke the rules and whether he will be declared ineligible. Based on what I've read, there is no concrete evidence and likely never will be. He ain't missing no games, IMO.

I don't think schools should pay athletes directly because it opens to door for Title IX to rear it's big ugly dike head again. But I see nothing wrong with these kids making a few bucks by being young entrepreneurs if they want to.

Dude goofing up for real. If he continues at this rate it's likely he wont be drafted.

Broker says Manziel was paid $7,500

An East Coast autograph broker told ESPN on Tuesday that Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel was paid $7,500 for signing approximately 300 mini- and full-sized helmets while he was attending the Walter Camp Football Foundation event back in January.

Here's a little from our newser:
"The broker played two cell phone videos for ESPN showing Manziel signing white Texas A&M helmets and footballs laid out on a bed in a hotel room. The video does not show Manziel accepting any money.

The broker said the room was at The Omni in New Haven, Conn., during the Camp event. He said the signing took place at three different times on Jan. 11-12, totaling about an hour.

The broker said the videos, approximately nine minutes in length in total, were initially shot only to be used as proof with authenticating company PSA/DNA."

ESPN heard on the videos, which the broker said were recorded without the quarterback's knowledge, Manziel say "you never did a signing with me" and that if the broker told anyone, he wouldn't deal with him again. ESPN also heard a broker ask Manziel if he would take additional cash for the signings, but Manziel declined and indicated he had done that before, but that it had led to questions.

The videos don't show Manziel accepting any cash, but the broker alleged it happened three times. The broker also said he doesn't plan on cooperating with the NCAA as it conducts its investigation on Manziel.

lots of stories coming out....one has to stick, shouldn't it? I really don't see this hurting him in any future plans. If he gets kicked out and doesn't appeal, he can just take time off and hire a PR firm and workout with other people getting ready for the Draft. I don't think his draft stock would suffer....I'm thinking Day 2 at the best. The way rookie contracts are now, teams even take a chance on 1st rd picks today. If anything his Heisman gets taken away but how many people don't think Bush won a Heisman. I'm sure A&M will be happy and don't see them getting punished (could be wrong)...they get the #1 recruit qb coming next year.

Still maintain Manziel misses no games. There's no hard evidence, and the NCAA under Emmert are buffoons. (Plus, Slive and the CBS/ESPN brass know how to protect their cash cows.) Can't even nail UNC with mountains of evidence of institutional corruption.

Is Manziel eligible for the draft after this season?

It's going to be funny to see how fast this kid declares once he is eligible.
