It's like your brain just makes up whatever it wants to and then you believe it's true.

Bullying has always been unacceptable. Plenty of people nowadays know how to stand up for themselves. Plenty of people don't, as well, this has been like this since the beginning of time. Martin does sound like a huge introvert and socially awkward. I'm sure he had trouble fitting in. I'm sure he isn't the first or only one.
