is Jonathan Martin a dumb ass or did someone do something to him worth talking about?

Also, if you're wondering why you were groaned? Acting like Martin is some renaissance man while Incognito can't tie his own shoes is actually pretty fucking pretentious. If you can't handle some ribbing from the older guys and allow yourself to be pushed around off the field, how do you expect to stop a 4.6 speed OLB who's been talking shit to you every down for an entire game?
What? This isn't like middle school bullying.

Incognito is a big dumb prick, plain and simple, he is an asshole.

Hazing and friendly ribbing is one thing, verbally and mentally abusing someone is another.

Obviously, Martin is a little weak minded and already has a hard time fitting in. I'm sure he has some friends on the team but incognito is just being an asshole because he knows he can. Incognito is a total piece of shit.

50-60% in taxes? This isn't Canada.

First, it's not 50-60%, but I understand your point. The fact still remains, these guys make more money than most people here in the US to play a GAME. They have almost no reason to whine.

Martin hasn't figured that out either.

Incognito has always been a mental case. He essentially got kicked off the Rams because he simply could not stop getting into fights and constant personal foul calls during games.

With that said, I hate the way this story is being framed in the media. "Bullying" with grown men, and now there are stories breaking today of Incognito's troubled childhood, which will make him a martyr of sorts.

#1, Incognito is an asshole. I don't care what happened in his childhood. I hate that excuse. He doesn't get off the hook for treating this guy like shit & systematically making sure he's broke.

#2, Martin needs to grow a pair. I don't agree with some of the shit i'm hearing about this, but with that said he's a grown man. Stand up for yourself. Tell Incognito to go fuck himself, and if it comes to blows so be it. Shit would have stopped right then & there.

Now this whole "bullying" thing is going to become one of those unbearable talking point sports narratives, and we're going to pretend it's a huge problem. Everything from rookies carrying bags in hotels to being forced to sing in training camp is going to be micro focused and probably eliminated for the sake of sensitivity.

And somewhere, a 10-year old is getting a trophy for finishing in last place.

Is there someplace where I can see what the "racially insensitive term" was that Incognito left on the voicemail, since ESPN doesn't have the guts to report it?

Made my morning rounds on the internet and have learned a few more interesting/crazy things.

-Mike and Mike this morning: Golic had some extra information. Jonathan Martin was "fined" $15,000 via the Kangaroo Court of the team because his rookie year he did not or refused to help pay for the rookie meal. That is where the $15,000 to Vegas came from. This shit happens everywhere on every team, if Martin really didn't pay up, that's just beign a bitch.

-Fox's Mike Garafolo is reporting Martin's camp (i.e. his lawyers, thus Martin has gone into full legal mode here) claims the texts and voicemails were not only threatening, but racially charged.

Incognito can be a psycho douche and I am not a big fan of shithead bully's, but I'm sorry, like W2BTD said, you're a grown ass man and you need to get a set of balls. Even if it has gone past where you physically aren't being respected, you need to follow the chain of command next and take it to the coach/GM. You don't quite/leave, and run to your agent, mommy, and daddy and start busting out the legal avenue. To me, this is pure bitch move. IMO, I wonder if Martin simply doesn't want to play football anymore and is looking for the easy way out without retiring or quitting. I mean seriously, who the fuck has ever quit the NFL over "bullying"??????

is Jonathan Martin a dumb ass or did someone do something to him worth talkin...

I'm willing to bet that none of you realize that every single act done to Martin as "rookie hazing" is considered a federal felony and has guaranteed minimum prison time associated with it. Every time you see someone on hard knocks giving out a "rookie haircut" they're committing a federal felony. All it takes is for one person to say 3 words, "I got hazed," and boom, half your team is in the pen. I always laughed at how the NFL openly flaunted the hazing that goes on and now they're taking these steps to ensure half the league doesn't end up in prison or bankrupt from class action lawsuits.

You reap what you sow. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they shouldn't do it, I'm saying they shouldn't do it on fucking national television. Let's be smart about this shit for once. Especially if you're gonna refer to the NFL as a fraternity and a brotherhood. You're just asking for it at this point.

                  Fuck Martin though

For some reason I just dont give a shit about this story. Seem like highschool lockeroom bs. Total distraction for the team, fire them both from the team and move on.

uhhhhhhh, no. Felony hazing is when the hazing results in death.

I could've swore it was any type of hazing was felony. Regardless, flaunting the hazing is a dumb idea to begin with and should be done behind closed doors. Martin's lawyers have an easy case against the Dolphins if they choose to pursue it.

Edit - I would've thought there would be much stricter laws in Florida against hazing after the incident with the Florida A&M band member death.

Martin is a millenial who has no clue how to deal with even a remote amount of bullying, because for his era, it's simply unacceptable.

Icongnito is a freak neanderthal who is on the other end of the spectrum and unable to establish when to draw a line (possibly steroid-fuelled, who knows).

There's a happy medium solution to this, but in all likelihood Martin wins outright and Incognito is outed for the moron that he likely is.

Edit: For all those who neg rep, I'm ok with that - but at least explain your neg rep and why you disagree.

Stephen A Smith said from his sources that the texts and voicemails Martin got would make the Riley Cooper story a sidebar...

Incognito is a piece of shit, based on everything I've read. Not fair to label Martin as "soft" because he can't "take" this abuse. Nobody should have to put up with that shit at work, especially in a supposed team environment.

And if it's true that Martin has had suicidal thoughts in the past, as is possibly being alleged by Incognito's father on a Dolphins message board, than Incognito is an even bigger piece of shit.

Edit - Here's the link to the message board story:
