What is a #1 receiver?

It's a guy that can be successful in multiple roles in multiple systems with any QB. Calvin Johnson is successful as a deep threat in that Lions offense. He would also be successful lining up in the slot in Denver's offense. He would have also been successful in Minnesota's run first offense with Christian Ponder under center. Some guys would be more successful than others, but any true #1 can have some decent level of success anywhere. As much as I love Randall Cobb, he's an x-factor WR but will never be that #1 type wideout.Comment

My favorite thing about Roddy White is how when Vick was there sympathizers were begging for ATL to "Step up" and get this guy some weapons and how they only had some half ass guy named Roddy and Vick was being held back blah blah...
Exit Vick.
White comes out and basically triples his numbers and becomes a standout WR. Senser had a field day on MM that year.
My least favorite thing about Roddy White is his cheapassness.

Best reason to have a license.

Reggie Wayne played his best year in 2012 and he was 34.
edit: He also scored more touchdowns than he scored in 2012 with only 7 games played before tearing his ACL.7 7 38 503 13.2 35 2 1 5 5.0 5 0 – – 16 15 106 1,355 12.8 33 5 1 -5 -5.0 -5 - 1 1 16 16 75 960 12.8 56T 4 - - - - - - - 16 16 111 1,355 12.2 50 6 - - - - - 1 1 16 16 100 1,264 12.6 65T 10 - - - - - - - 16 16 82 1,145 14.0 65T 6 - - - - - - - 16 16 104 1,510 14.5 64 10 1 4 4.0 4 0 3 3 16 16 86 1,310 15.2 51T 9 - - - - - 1 0 16 16 83 1,055 12.7 66T 5 - - - - - 1 0 16 16 77 1,210 15.7 71T 12 1 -4 -4.0 -4 0 - - 16 16 68 838 12.3 57T 7 - - - - - - - 16 7 49 716 14.6 49 4 - - - - - 2 1 13 9 27 345 12.8 43 0 - - - - - - - The Original

Not disputing anything about Wayne (especially since his numbers really weren't bad) but in this discussion, you can't say years should be ignored because of the QB. Andre Johnson spent his prime with poor QB play and still dominated. Larry Fitzgerald had Warner for a few years, but had bad QBs much of his career and still did his thing.
Wayne putting up still solid numbers at his age with that QB play in 2011 should be used as part of your argument, not as something to ignore.Comment
