It's a guy that can be successful in multiple roles in multiple systems with any QB. Calvin Johnson is successful as a deep threat in that Lions offense. He would also be successful lining up in the slot in Denver's offense. He would have also been successful in Minnesota's run first offense with Christian Ponder under center. Some guys would be more successful than others, but any true #1 can have some decent level of success anywhere. As much as I love Randall Cobb, he's an x-factor WR but will never be that #1 type wideout.

My favorite thing about Roddy White is how when Vick was there sympathizers were begging for ATL to "Step up" and get this guy some weapons and how they only had some half ass guy named Roddy and Vick was being held back blah blah...
        Exit Vick.
White comes out and basically triples his numbers and becomes a standout WR. Senser had a field day on MM that year.

My least favorite thing about Roddy White is his cheapassness.

                What is a #1 receiver?

Just glancing at that, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010 were all better than 2012.

His numbers haven't declined though, and that says enough. 2011 doesn't really count, because Curtis Painter.

Enough about what? Who was saying anything about them declining?

Not disputing anything about Wayne (especially since his numbers really weren't bad) but in this discussion, you can't say years should be ignored because of the QB. Andre Johnson spent his prime with poor QB play and still dominated. Larry Fitzgerald had Warner for a few years, but had bad QBs much of his career and still did his thing.

Wayne putting up still solid numbers at his age with that QB play in 2011 should be used as part of your argument, not as something to ignore.

I would add Marshall and Flash Gordon.

I think Dez Bryant is the best in the game today. Second is Green.
