Would the Bucs pass on Mariotta for Florida Hero Winston?

Idk bro, making 33k a year as a righty specialist out of the GREAT LAKES LOONS pen sounds enticing compared to becoming a multimillionaire in literally seconds.

As far as his pro career goes, I think he will be a solid NFL QB but 2nd and 3rd tier of quarterbacks by the time he figures it out. Certainly the potential of winning a SB with the right team around him, especially since Manning and Brady will both be out of the league in 2 maybe 3 years tops.

He had great numbers but I was never as impressed with him as I was the entire FSU team. He's better and completely different but it reminds me of Leinart and Ken Dorsey. It's really tough to judge how good he actually is...I also don't think he will put the work in from day 1. He's not Andrew luck or russel Wilson. More raw.

IMO, he is far more impressive physically than Dorsey or Leinart. Dorsey and Leinart were great college QBs, but physically don't compare to Winston. Winston can make all the throws. Dorsey and Leinart never could.
That said, I also get the alerts about Winston and would never use a #1 overall pick on him.

I wasn't making a physical comparison. Statistically and surrounded by talent was the basis of the comparison.

Leinart and Dorsey could and did make all the throws in college. When the hash marks and coverage tighten up is a whole different story. I'm not all that sold on Jimbo Fisher as a QB developer, either.

Winstons ability to make pre-snap reads and going through progressions is a question mark. He's the best qb in the draft and worth the risk because elite quarterbacks are slim pickings but It's really tough to predict how good he will be.

Bump. Outside of the 40 yard dash, Winston put on a show throwing the ball. I'll be surprised if he isn't the #1 pick. I guess he should've taken humble's advice and took the 15th round baseball money.

time will tell how good he will be in the NFL.

history tends to repeat itself for 1st round QBs.

Even if he goes in the first round and flops, it doesn't mean he should have gone to MLB.

He'll make more in his first NFL signing bonus than he would have made during whatever baseball career he would have had.

I would go ahead and paste every quote from this week where NFL personnel guys who have been raving about his IQ, that they were "blown away" by his X's and O's knowledge, but you know what they say about arguing with fools.

Anyway, he's going #1 overall and VSN remains an echo chamber for idiots.

Well yeah, NFL money is stupid good for a potential #1 overall drafted player.

The combine helps some and hurts others. In Winston's case he put the doubters to rest. As a former Winston hater I have changed my opinion on this kid. We all knew he could play and is a better QB than Mariota but of course the off the field issues air up. This kid though has a "Can Newton" type personality (A+ grade). Add his athletic ability and football IQ and there is no way this kid doesn't get picked in the 1st by Tampa Bay.

Was watching the combine (I know, I'm a freak), saw a segment with Coach Mariucci (who hated rookies as a coach) trying to throw Winston off kilter. Even Coach M has a lot of praise for this kid which to me says a lot.

If you haven't seen it check it out, funny stuff.

Winston doesn't get questions for on the field necessarily. His is mainly off the field for overwhelming stupidity.
