Ray Rice was indicted and took a deal offered to some first-time offenders to avoid jail time. Jameis Winston was never charged of anything and cleared of any and all code of conduct wrongdoing . Leave it to you to fail to see a difference.

Anyway, he's going #1 overall and VSN remains an echo chamber for idiots.
I personally don't think he is going to be a great NFL qb. I heard one "nfl scout" say he is on the same level as Peyton manning when it comes to iq which is a joke.

I also remember NAHSTE making fun of everyone talking about how Luck was a once in a generation QB prospect, even though it's become pretty obvious that all the Luck hype was dead on and the other QBs in that draft can't hold a candle to him.

That is so stupid for so many reasons and I shouldn't even need to explain why but the simple fact that not 1 NFL coach was named is one reason and another is that NFL coaches make up a bunch of shit from the combine to the draft.

Show me where I ever said Luck wasn't the best QB in that draft, that I thought he would be a "bust" or anything of the sort. I loved him as a prospect and acknowledged throughout that ordeal that I thought he'd be a good pro. As I recall, the stance I took was more of a cautioning against suggestions that he could immediately step in and seamlessly take over for a guy who, depending on who you ask, is possibly the greatest QB of all time, while also simply poking fun at the breathless BEST IN A GENERATION hype that was surrounding him. It's both easy and fun to mock the DRAFTNIK culture's obsession with superlatives and hyperbolic statements, and the comparisons to hall of famers get thrown around pretty liberally pre-draft. (As we're seeing with another round of combine analysis, and not just for Winston. Not sure if you have been watching the combine on NFL Network, they think every random jagoff from Abilene Christian can be compared to a pro bowler.)

Back to Jameis, if you don't think he is going to be good, that's fine with me. I'm not invested in his future at all. But there's a lot of off base criticism of his mental aptitude in this thread, or worse, ludicrous suggestions that he should have played baseball. Those misinformed #takes were all that I was addressing. (And as unreliable and easy to dismiss as anonymous quotes may be, I'll side with those and the two years of in-game performance I've personally witnessed over OOBL's opinion. I hope you can understand.)

I have no idea if Jameis will be good, bad or average but I know if he fails it probably won't be because of lack of preparation or knowledge of the playbook. I only posted those quotes to further drive home the point that maybe, just maybe, a kid who shredded college football as a RS Freshman and went 26-1 as a starter understands X's and O's better than he's getting credit for in this thread.

OOBL said something dumb, I provided direct evidence (both on January 10, and again six weeks later) illustrating why I believe his statement was dumb, and that is all. I'm not gonna sit here and white knight for a player I don't even particularly like who's about to be playing for a division rival.

But I must side with logic over bullshit.

my point is that it didnt matter what the Court said. the NFL banned for that year. NFL doesnt care as long it doesnt "look bad" on the NFL.
now Ray Rice can play but is there a team thats really gonna pick up "that baggage".

if Winston gonna carry that "baggage" into the NFL, how will that differ

He was also fined a whopping $30. We're not talking about some vast cover up here, LOL. FSU boosters were probably too busy covering up the real crimes committed that weekend to even bother with this small potatoes citation.

                    i understand that..........
                    But
this is the media and they looking for stories.

look at Manziel, who got caught hanging out at the Club, like an ordinary kid.
now he is considered a Coke head/alcoholic - and in rehab now i read.

the media is going to look for every bit of dirt on this kid.
especially since he is now a Top prospect.

                    note:
                    shoplifting is still stealing

He knows that by now, he's been scrutinized for two years. I think he's used to being under the microscope. He can't even say a vulgar phrase while joking around with his buddies on campus without the national media picking it up.

if he does go #1 OVR,
he gonna be compared to Luck
                        NOT
                        RGIII..........

if he gets trade multiple 1st rounders by some other team, then he will be compared to RGIII

I've got nothing against Winston but I don't see any way in hell he has the best football IQ since Peyton Manning. That sounds like wishful thinking from the Bucs front office as a winning Winston would put asses in seats having played at FSU. I think he can be a successful NFL QB provided his maturity issues are behind him as he moves to adulthood....but Peyton Manning II? Get outta here

Someone disputed that he was charged with anything and I pointed out he was. He was given a criminal citation which is a formal charge. It's not a traffic ticket.
