He's played for 12 years, I'm sure a "nest egg" is the least of his worries by this point.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

    "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

Not taking anything away from that, but I think he hit the post and then Thomas' stick pushed it away.

yah there is a couple other guys that were saying similar things over the last week. I'm kinda waiting for Eklund to post it though since I'm sure he wants the hits on his shitty website.

          Leafs offseason training!

He's 37 years old. Do you really think the money he has made thus far is going to last him and his family for the rest of his life?

            I see Dave's point.

But I'm sure he'll get into coaching or commentating or something like that anyway.

That save by Thomas was incredible, but as is often the case with him, he was out of position and needed to make a miraculous save on what should have been a pretty routine stop.

Well I'd put his career earnings somewhere around $30m and since he's white I'd say it's unlikely that he's made it rain that much so I doubt he'll have to work many 60 hour weeks for the rest of his life.

I don't really see anything that the Leafs have that the Flyers would really want in return. Kulemin, Schenn, Reimer being about the only 3 guys I could really see the Flyers wanting, and I doubt the Leafs would part with any of them. I think the thing that kills this rumor though is the guy saying the Burke is waiting to see if Nash is available.

Yep, he's beat and the post saves him. Hank would have been in position first of all, but if he had chosen to be out of position just to make it a bit of a challenge then he would saved it anyhow. Shove yer Vezina up yer arse.

If you guys are really in cap hell then that naturally drives the price of Carter down greatly. I would anticipate that if there was a trade for Carter it would involved 4-6 players in total.

They have 5 prospect goalies. I'm sure philly would be interested in 1 of them and thats not reimer.

If he can't live off of what he made just last season, then seriously fuck him. I have no sympathy for it. $6M is enough that I myself at 25 could retire and live very well, and probably my kids as well. Put in bank/good savings shit, and you can just live off the interest.

You would probably be surprised when these guys get older that they

                          a) actually save money and don't blow it all. They understand they won't be getting sick paydays all the time, so need to save up.

                          b) retire from NHL, not life. Most players move on to other things, schools/camps, broadcasting, other shit like that. He'll make money.

But I lean more towards A. Most players, sure at first are dumb and have no idea what to do with all the money, but then they get a head on their shoulders.

Ovechkin on the other hand has all his wealth tied up in sports cars which he has either totalled or is going to.

What is really sick is, he can spend like a beast forever, then just pick one year of his contract and say "ok, savings money" and bam, 9million saved.
