Yeah that's a pretty damn good return, apparently they weren't able to sign him so they traded him. A lot of Flyers fans hate the guy for some reason but I like him as a player, always gave 100% and hit everything he could.

So Jeff Carter is apparantly ridiculously pissed off at the flyers. After the trade went down a lot of rumours were coming out that he was not to impressed with philly since he signed his deal last year with the full intention on being in philly for the whole contract. He has a NTC coming up that starts on July 1 when his new contract kicks in.
He spoke today saying he was excited to join the blue jackets as essentially a whole contigent of blue jacket personnel flew to philly to meet up with him. The GM, nash and co owner all went.
Also read during the draft that the word coming from players now that philly isn't high on peoples list of places to sign mainly because of holgrems moves.

Well that's to be expected. You trade basically your two franchise players who you just signed to massive long term deals, who also just took you to the SCF a year ago, and do it a year before their NTC kicks in.
It was a pretty unconventional shakeup and certainly should give them a reputation hurting their loyalty towards players.Comment

Pierre Mcguire left TSN today and is going full time with NBC/VS
Honestly the guy kind of annoys me but that is huge for NBC. His hockey knowledge is truely deep and he knows his stuff.
Looks like more Ferraro for TSN. I wonder who they are going to throw in for the second broadcast.

Apparently Holgrem also told him earlier in the week that he wasn't going to be traded, so I'm sure that didn't help. Richards has the same thing with a NMC kicking in next year so it really was now or never for both of them.Comment

NBC probably could offer a deal that TSN couldn't afford so that's likely why he left.
I'm sure they will dig into recently retired players like McCauley, Ferraro like you mentioned, etc, to replace him.Comment

Souray is being placed on waivers again, trying to buy him out. Also in Oiler land, the Smyth deal is still not done yet, as Colin Fraser apparently has some issue with a fracture or cyst and will need 4 months to heal. So they can't buy him out. Seriously LA, just take a fucking draft pick and be done with it.All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

So is Semyon Varlamov worth a 1st round pick? I really wanted Vokoun for a few years until the team was able to compete.Comment

Varlamov is going to the KHL. If he were not, he is super talented but dealt with some nagging injuries this year, so I worry about his durability. With Neuvirth and Holtby, Varlamov is expendable if he wants to leave for another league or team.Comment

I can't believe the Wisniewski contract. I knew the Habs wouldn't get him back, but $5.5M a year? Wow.
And ... how is Darren Dreger a hockey insider? The guy was a talking TV head at one time, has never played the game, etc... I don't get it.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000
