If thats the case then it wouldn't be that bad for the Bears considering more players will be available in the later rounds?

Bears draft well in later rounds, i'm not at all worried about them giving up early picks, that they usually waste anyway

Why would we give up a 2nd rounder for a guy that has done absolutely nothing in his career? I absolutely hate this trade and see absolutely no reason for it. Adams shouldnt be worth more then a 5th at this point. Brutal trade for the Bears. I hope they can bring out the talent Adams has, but I doubt it.. really not understanding this trade at all.

Yea, Hopefully he has more success in Chi but he was usless for us. Dude would constantly get shoved around and just run way past the QB.

            This draft will be deep.
The only QBs I'd consider a potential "Franchise QB":
            Sam Bradford
            Jimmy Clausen
Jevan Snead (He really needs work on his decision making and accuracy though)
Ryan Mallett (Slim to none chance he comes out. Terrific arm strength, 6'6, he has very little athleticism,he doesn't move in the pocket, needs to the improve the touch on his passes)

            FS
            1. Taylor Mays (Impact player who takes away deep plays; takes bad angles on the football though)
            2. Deunta Williams (Incredibly fluid, great instincts; Kind of small)
            3. Chad Jones (Physically off the charts; yet to show production on the field prior to this year)
            4. Nate Allen (Good deep safety who can play up at the LOS; Lacks ability to read plays quickly)
            5. Van Eskridge (Uber productive, great tackler; lacks athletic ability closing speed)

            SS
            1. Eric Berry (complete safety prospect; Is he big enough)
            2. Morgan Burnett (can play FS and sure tackler; Caught out of position numerous times this year)
            3. Reshad Jones (Great at the LOS; can play FS as well)
            4. Justin Woodall (Great coverage deep; run support?)
            5. DeAndre McDaniel (Incredibly productive this year; Undersized)

Horribly weak safety class. The depth isn't there. Mays and Berry top six prospects, Williams and Burnett late first round prospects, Jones an early second, but he could go as high as top fifteen with his athletic ability.

Jay Valai and Kurt Coleman are two guys I really like, but I can't see them going to high.

For the Bears fans who hate the trade, who are you going to draft that has as much potential and upside as Gaines Adams in the 2nd round?

There's no point in drafting a receiver. The Bears need a tall possession receiver, and there's not gonna reach for one.

Does this add any truth to the Merrimen to TB rumors? Package that second with another mid-level pick and i can see TB and SD doing it, especially if merrimen agrees to a new contract for more years.

                  LOL @ the bears fans.

That 2nd round pick will end up contributing more to THIS YEARS team then Adams will to Chicago.

Wait, so the Bears got rid of a second round pick to get Gaines Adams because they didn't want to pay Ogunleye in an uncapped year?

Leaf you would know more than me, as you have seen him undoubtedly more than me. But with Wale playing well, (contract year) and more than like to leave and/or demanding high money, I dont mind this.

And also, Gaines Adams has never been fortunate to work with Rod Marinelli. I thought all the Rod M talk was just lip service, but seeing the D line play the way they are, I have to at least give him the the benefit that he can help Gaines produce.

Also happy cuz this means they didnt do anything INCREDIBLY stupid...like trading for TO.

                      All in all....hmmm not bad.
Rod is an amazing coach. In fact, I praised the guy to Lions fans when he was hired. However, it's clear Rod is more of a coordinator and position coach. If anyone could do anything with Gaines it is Rod. Fact is though, you can't teach toughness. Rod got the most out of tough football players that maybe didn't buy-in to a system at first or were stubborn in their technique. Gaines just isn't tough. Runs away from the play and is oblivious to his poor play. Just a few weeks ago he publicly disagreed with Raheem's assessment of his play which shows he isn't open to much coaching. I doubt Rod will be able to do much with him. He's a good football coach but he can't work miracles.

It can take a few years for guys playing along the defensive line to maximize their potential. Gaines is in his third year and hasn't come close to progressing. When you play with Gaines Adams out on the field it is like playing with 10 guys instead of 11 - he just takes himself out of every play. Gruden had a saying about potential: "Potential is for the bees...ok...I'm looking for production."

Possibly. I have heard that the Bucs are not done dealing yet. Other names to watch included in trade talks include: Michael Clayton (I don't see him having much trade value though with his hefty contract), Antonio Bryant and Barrett Ruud.

BTW, the trade of Adams is an $11 million dollar cap hit for the Bucs. Bringing their cap space down to $19 million. IF there is a cap next year it will be an additional $4 million dollar hit.

Ruud? Really? I thought Tampa liked this guy. Or is it a contract dispute? He's in a contract year. HAS to be.

Ruud can come play in GB
