He is unhappy about his contract, but, that doesn't really matter. With an uncapped year coming and a change to the UFA rules, Ruud would only be a RFA anyway.
I was high on Ruud heading into this season, but, he isn't the same without Brooks. Sure, he still racks up tons of tackles, but, the guy doesn't make plays and is easily overpowered. It was my fault for overlooking the total value of Brooks. The guy is a completely different player without Brooks with him.

Merriman is still a possibility, but, a long one. I don't see it happening. Also, Gruden was limited in what he could acquire in terms of personnel. Seeing this Bucs team now just shows you how good of a coach Gruden was. He made chicken salad out of chicken shit. The Glazers have spent the least amount of money on player acquisition than any other team in the NFL since 2004.
Ruud needs an additional impact player next to him to be truly effective. I think the trade value for him is at its highest now. As for Freeman, I said it when he was drafted - the kid is not a franchise quarterback. He was a reach and it still may be the worst pick in franchise history. As for where he is...he's usually on the bench, not involved or talking to coaches and busy cracking jokes. Word is that the coaching staff isn't "happy" about his progression thus far and he hasn't been able to pick up even basic NFL coverages and offensive reads. It'll just be another instance in where I can say "I told you so" down the road.
