No, I don't mean situation like that. I mean the situation they are put in. For example: 4th and 1 is the situation and Bell is in... or its the end of the game (thats the situation) and Thomas is in... Each RB has had different opportunities and were put in different situations according to their strengths and weaknesses.

All I'm saying is that you can easily replace Thomas or Bell with any other decent RB. Don't you agree that most of the league is filled with decent RBs and that a decent RB can put up similar numbers?

Those RBs are completely different!! You couldn't choose a more disparate collection of RBs. Bell gives you nothing in the passing game. Decent runner. Thomas is the best combo of runner/receiver and gives you yards inbetween the tackles. Bush is more explosive but isn't the heavy-duty runner.

OK...the Saints want a player from your team, and in return they say you can choose 1 RB from Bush, Thomas, Bell. Do you honestly think a GM would say "Give me whomever, they are all the same?" or, even worse, they would say "Give me Tatum, I mean Mike, Bell".

Elite RBs are elite and will put up elite numbers.

Decent RBs are decent and will put up decent numbers.

Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell are decent RBs.

        Therefore

Any other decent RB will put up similar decent numbers.

The league is filled with decent RBs.

LOL at substantial body of work. Two games? Remember when Pierre Thomas became the only RB in NFL history to have 100 yards rushing and 100 yards receiving in the same game?

Of course you wouldnt take Bell.

The debate was never "who's the better RB, Thomas or Bell?"

The point, is what do the Saints lose with Bell instead of Thomas?

Based on Bell's starts this year, not a whole lot in terms of production. Sutuationally? Of course, but that was never my point, and I explained that several times already.

So, we only have two types of RBs...elite and non-elite. All non-elite RBs are the same. Thats why W2B can say Matt Forte is the same as Darren McFadden, and no one calls him on it. Thats why you can say Bell and Thomas are interchangeable even though Thomas is statistically superior in all areas (average, yards, TDs, receptions, etc.).

Is this the new "Retard's View of the NFL"? Were you the guy who put "impact players" into the NCAA games?

Two starts out of 6, 4 for Thomas.

They have a similar amount of carrries, and Thomas has actually started more games, yet Bell's numbers are comparable.

Well, Thomas does have a whopping 6 receptions compared to Bell's 1. Sorry.

I don't understand what your arrows mean. So you remember Thomas' game? Since you and W2B are judging players on only 1 or 2 games, and ignoring everything else, would you say Pierre Thomas is the best RB in history?

I forgot that the NFL began playing in 2009. You and Mini must be members of ESPN's research team.

Nobody called me on it, because that's not what I was doing. I was just throwing random starters out there in that particular post, to show that I was talking about guys other that your Peterson's of the world.

...and for the record, I thought you were trying to say McFadden was better than Forte, which is why I accused you of burying Forte twice in the same thread.

Lots of misunderstandings here, but its clouding the topic. Time to move on.

You know better than that. Stop.

You cant use Bell's garbage time stats from 2008 in this. Bell stepping in for Thomas in 2009 is all that matters in this debate, because that's what we are talking about--guys stepping in for starters with little drop off.

Holy shit, I gotta see a clip of that. I watched that game this morning, I missed it.

If Gus was white, he's be fired for sure.
