    UNDERTAKER

Look/Gimmick: 10. Duh. Maybe the greatest gimmick ever, constantly reinvents himself to freshen up but sticks to the core of the persona.

Promo: 5. This one is tough. Spent years not talking. Gets his opint across and exudes believablity when he does talk. 5 is a cop out, I really have no idea.

Work: 6. Not my cup of tea, but one of the better big men ever. Years of bad matches, regardless of quality opposition (Flair says suck it up sucka. I dragged JYD, Luger and El Gigante to 3 stars) hurts. Shows up for the big game, so I will bump him up for that.

If only they gave the guy a chance to get over...

        Bill Goldberg

Physical Appearance / Look / Character - 10/10. He had the head of Steve Austin with the body of the Rock + chest hair. WCW built a nice aura around this guy based off his look and the result was a great character if only for a short time. Top flight charisma.
Ability to Talk/Sell Yourself - 6.5/10. "YOU'RE NEXT!" He's actually a much better talker than he was given time for in WCW. Gets most of his points for his charisma.
In-Ring Work - 2.5/10. Incredibly paint-by-numbers. Nearly turned Bret Hart into a vegetable and hurt quite a few people. Never sold a fucking thing. Rates only behind the Road Warriors for best squash matches. Walked in...beat some poor bastard(s) to a pulp...big pop...walk out. Did that shit for like a year straight, twice a week and it never got old lol.

        TOTAL - 19/30.

          Andre the Giant

Physical Appearance / Look / Character - 10/10. Are you serious?
Ability to Talk/Sell Yourself - 9/10. He was a God-damned Giant and spoke like a God-damned Giant. Had a charisma and charm to him that really couldn't and can't be replicated.
In-Ring Work - 6/10. The man was a Giant but he knew how to work a match and what worked, especially with a guy his size.

          TOTAL - 25/30

btw - its my goal in this thread to eventually rate every fucking wrestler.

I might be done before W2BTD is done with his Top 100.

How do we go about rating international / foreign wrestlers in the category of promo ability? All Japs sound evil...All Mexicans sound like overexcited Latin Gang Bangers....explain to me how we slice that piece of pie.

                You can't.

In Japan, promos serve an entirely different purpose. They really only cut them at the fake pressers before big shows, and in the ring after big matches. Groups like Dragon Gate are a bit more americanized in that regard, but still, if you don't know what they are saying, you can't rate them.

Lucha uses promos more like the US, but again, I don't know spanish and can only go off of crowd reaction. But just because the crowd goes apeshit for Mesias or something, I don't know what the hell he's blathering about or if its good.

What do you feel would be a good criteria for a third category.

                      VIRGIL

Look: 5 - He gets the points for the angry black man look which was perfected by Bad News Brown. He was jacked as Dibiase's second, but slimmed down around 1992 (with most of the guys). Still never got the idea behind the candystriper pants, then tights.

Mic: 2 - I don't remember him cutting many promos other than against Dibiase and even then, he wasn't too effective. Hell, they had Rowdy Piper cut more promos for him than he did himself.

Workrate: 4 - He wasn't horrible as the babyface in peril and the crowd got behind him but he didn't really do much besides the basics.

                      11/30

For Japan, I don't even think the first category works due to the lack of gimmicks and lack of emphasis on physical appearance, especially the further back in history you go. What's so special about the way Misawa or Kobashi look? They have to be compared against themselves, not the americans.

                          Mexico, its not a problem.

As fo a third category, I don't know man.

I know I don't post on these forums terribly often, but most of you know I lurk a lot in these forums (hell, this site's wrestling/MMA forum was the only one I visited for a long, long time after the MM merger), but this is one I want to get in on. As such, I'm gunna throw arguably my favorite pure wrestler of the last ten years into the ring, and see what you guys think.

                            Shelton Benjamin
                            Pre-Mama gimmick ruining him
Physical Appearance / Look / Character - 7/10. I won't say he was a top-tier look, but I also wouldn't call him sub-5. Nothing terribly special as today's guys go, but for a "smaller" wrestler, he had the right body. Thankfully, this is pre-mama, so I don't have to fend off that horrific bleaching of his hair. This one's probably the one that's most open to argument. Ideally, he probably could fall anywhere from 6-7 by my reckoning.
Ability to Talk/Sell Yourself - 1/10. Lol, mic skills? What mic skills? This was one we discussed a few years ago when I brought him up as one of my favorites, but when he started showing off his wrestling abilities, Ron Simmons was positioned perfectly to become a manager for him. I am of the opinion that if you'd put a charismatic mouthpiece on him like a Ron Simmons, he could've been over immediately. Sorry, got sidetracked, but yeah, he couldn't sell his way out of a paper bag while a member of the WWE roster.
In-Ring Work - 10/10. This man was usually the shining star in every match he was in. I remember being supremely disappointed when I found out he wasn't going to be in any more Money-in-the-Bank matches. It was very, very rare he had a bad match, and even then, it tended to be someone who would get a very low number in the In-Ring category. Let alone, let's not forget this gem from a 2005 Raw that had me marking out for days:
                            [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qkZ1bzJ_5Q[/ame]

                            TOTAL - 18/30.

Ultimately, he was a victim of his abyssmal mic skills, and never receiving a proper manager. Well, that, and horrible booking when they decided they weren't going to pursue the Shawn Michaels feud they teased a couple times.

Hate to be nitpicky geek guy, but he was Giant Machine. The other guy next to him is Bill Eadie, aka Masked Superstar, aka Demolition Ax.
