Pro wrestling title to be defended in a shoot match, because Antonio Inoki is still crazy:
IGF announced a New Year's Eve show at Sumo Hall that will be headlined by something very rare, a pro wrestling championship being defended in a shoot match, as Kazuyuki Fujita defends the IGF title against 2008 Olympic judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii in a shoot match under MMA rules. That's practically handing the title to Ishii. Fujita was a top amateur wrestler in Japan who went to New Japan Pro Wrestling. When shoot matches became big as Pride got popular, and with Inoki having an affiliation with Pride, he had Fujita fight in a number of Pride events. He was able to win most of the time just using wrestling, and even got in a punch on Fedor Emelianenko that nearly knocked him out, but Emelianenko submitted Fujita almost immediately upon regaining his bearings. The shooting elevated Fujita in pro wrestling, as he went from a prelim guy to a main eventer, including IWGP champion, but never was over to the degree hoped for. But he's now 43, hasn't done a real fight in four years and his last win of any kind was nearly six years ago. Ishii is 10-2-1 in MMA, fighting regularly, including on pro wrestling shows for IGF, having won his last six fights since a first round knockout loss to Emelianenko no the 2011 New Year's Eve show.Comment

So GSP says one of the reasons for retiring was because of the drug testing...
Here is my only question... Was he upset that he couldn't manhandle Hendricks and he thought he should have been able to? I don't understand his reasoning... To me it seems like everybody he has fought has been clean from PEDs. My thought is he has not enjoyed his past two fights. Although he has won them both, he has taken a beating in both. Dude just doesn't like to get hit (I know, who does), but he REALLY hates it. Thoughts?Comment

Scanned through WSOF 8 on the DVR...
-Welp, Tyson Nam is back to complete anonymity. Sucks he could not turn the big upset over Eduardo Dantas over a year and a half ago into anything of note. He had the contractual dispute with Bellator, didn't return to the cage (after Dantas) for 7 months and lost by KO to the awesome Marlon Moraes. Yesterday, he lost an uneventful decision to Cody Bollinger.
-#1 strawweight fighter in the world Jessica Aguilar choked out Alida Gray to win the WSOF title. Aguilar is essentially the best in the division and not involved (least not yet) in the UFC's TUF Tourney later this year (I'm stoked for that, btw).
-At 205, Rumble Johnson knocked out Mike Kyle, which is always a welcomed sight.
-Main event saw undefeated 155 prospect Justin Gaethje beat the fuck out of "gracie killer" Richard Patishnock, beating him with strikes in the 1st round. Gaethje is like a buzzsaw, shoots forward and attacks...no caution at all. He's now the WSOF lightweight champ, btw.
