Wahoo, I can carry on my fanatical longshot dreams to hope this kid defects back to the Canucks. At the very least, he may one day suit up for the Reds, which would be cool in it's own right.


I imagine both possibilities remained linked, he needs to play in Europe to be in the highest competitive league possible, with the Dutch able to keep tabs on him (which they unfortunately admitted they are). However if he were to concede that we won't ever get to play a role he desires with them, he'd not have to be tied to playing in Europe as much.

BMO Field can hold as many as Ron Soix, and is going to expand, so playing in front of 25-30K crowds is an option here. MLSE can definitely afford to pay him the same wages, so money wouldn't be an issue either. He'd likely make more coin here being the hometown boy, he'd take over from DeRo as the face of Canadian Soccer if he ever did come back.

I never realized Newcastle fans were so bitter. With as much as they talk about Liverpool you'd think they have an inferiority complex.
