I usually agree. Here are the issues at play, though.

Sinclair is a notoriously conservative company that has come under fire in the past for unfair broadcasting practices. One example, is they aired a heavily slanted special about the swift boat guys during that whole ordeal. So the last thing they want is for the national media to pick up on this story.

Second, Briscoe probably would have gotten away with this if he simply came out against gay marriage. But he added that he would shoot anybody who tought his kids that it was ok. I think that's the part that they feel was grossly out of line. We all know it was either a figure of speech or that he didn't really mean it, but you know how that goes.

Fair enough. The PC police media presence is a big part of the problem. I don't think anyone should be discriminated against. but I'm not gonna bury my head in the sand and act like the Briscoes, who are let's say notoriously "southern", are going to be completely open-minded and up to date on what we should all believe in.

ROH is a bit of a mess.

First off...the iPPV issues are inexcusable at this point.
Secondly...this is why the WWE is the WWE...they aren't second rate. All of these other companies are just run like second rate operations. TNA, ROH...they are just a mess on the general organization side of things.

Why the hell didn't Matt Hardy beat Jay Briscoe for the title at the tapings? I just can not wrap my head around this.

Always funny to see who is vanity searching their names when I tweet something about them and don't tag them in.

Bryan Alvarez contradicts some of what Keller has reported.

Keep in mind, Alvarez is very close to Delirious, so take that for what it is worth. Also, Alvarez reported in his newsletter several weeks ago that the brother vs brother feud was going to be rushed, well before it was hinted in storylines and way before anybody had a clue the Briscoes were leaving. So clearly he is in tune with what's going on:

Regarding reports online that the Briscoes are done with Ring of Honor, we can confirm that they have been written out of storylines per the latest set of TV tapings. However, online reports that this has to do with Sinclair officials being upset about ROH Champion Jay's controversial tweets a month or so back are incorrect. The reason Briscoe vs. Briscoe for the title was booked last weekend in what seemed like a rushed storyline (one would have presumed brother vs. brother for the belt would have taken place further down the road) is that for whatever reason (and right now I don't know what the reason was, but there are people who believe there was a WWE deal on the table) the plan was to write them out of storylines after this iPPV. These plans were made long before Jay made any tweets, and according to a source in ROH the tweets had absolutely nothing to do with the current situation. It is true that their contracts have expired, and while I don't know this to be the case, there are people in the company who believe that unless they get a big money offer from WWE or elsewhere, at some point they'll be back with the company.

So, it's all been planned. To let the world champ's contract run out and then write him off TV for a period of time.

                What could go wrong...

Now, what do they do? WWE apparently isn't interested. Don't see them going to TNA....just more indy work?
You need to listen to the podcast because I make a ROH/EWR reference of them going from Large to Medium.

TORCH says they fucked up. Score one for Bryan Alvarez.

                    UPDATE

Radican note: I had a major miscommunication with my sources yesterday and have corrected the story of the Briscoes departure below. I apologize to the Briscoes and Ring of Honor for the error.

PWTorch has learned that ROH World champion Jay Briscoe and his brother, Mark Briscoe, are gone from Ring of Honor for the foreseeable future. (The status of the ROH Title is unknown at this time.)

The Briscoes's contracts expired and will not be renewed at this time. The reason for the Briscoes not having their contracts renewed is because ROH booker Hunter Johnson books long-term and was booking under the impression that the Briscoes were finishing up with the company and heading to WWE after this weekend.

According to multiple sources, the decision was made by WWE to pull their contract offer in response to Jay's tweets in early May vowing to shoot anyone who teaches his children about marriage between same-sex couples.

Both Briscoes were written off television at Sunday's TV taping in Baltimore, Md. Jay's storyline injury is that he re-injured his shoulder and Mark's injury is that he suffered a "severe concussion." Despite Jay being written off TV, ROH kept the ROH Title on Jay, who defeated Matt Hardy with a small package in their title match taped for television this summer.

After the match, S.C.U.M. delivered a vicious-looking beat down on both Briscoes to write them off television.

The relationship between the Briscoes and ROH is still amicable, so it's a possibility they will return to ROH in the future.

LOL @ WWE knowing about the Jay Briscoe tweets as they happened, but Sinclair, the company that employs the man, just finding out recently.

Anyway, Mike Johnson over at PW Insider also posted something similar to what Alvarez posted, so now everybody seems to be coming to an agreement on the details here.

The big mystery, is why the fuck would they not book Jay to lose the title on the way out? I have to assume they are confident the Briscoes will be back, so there is a good storyline to come out of "vacating" the title.

But now he has no job.

I'm sure they'll get booked like crazy, but technically he's unemployed.

                              This is from ROHWrestling.com - http://t.co/9GHqeLECrn

Last weekend in Baltimore was a physically brutal one for both World Champion Jay Briscoe and his “Best in the World 2013” challenger Mark Briscoe. The brothers tore into one another in one of the more physical championship battles and it ultimately required Jay to utilize multiple Jay Drillers in order to put his brother down for the three count. Unfortunately, as a result of those maneuvers and the general punishment suffered in the bout, Mark Briscoe was forced out of his spot in the Steel Cage Warfare bout that went down during the following day's “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings.

As for Jay, the day of those tapings he defended his title once again, this time against S.C.U.M's Matt Hardy and although he was victorious in the bout, following the match the champion was viciously assaulted with a steel chair by S.C.U.M and left laying.

Unfortunately, ROHWrestling.com has since learned that, as a result of the injuries sustained during “Best in the World” weekend, both Jay and Mark will be out of action indefinitely. Mark suffered severe head trauma as a result of the bout with his brother while Jay apparently has a fractured shoulder and torn rotator cuff coming from the assault at the hands of S.C.U.M. At this point it is unknown how long Jay and Mark will be out of action but we will stay on top of the story to provide you with details, as they are made available to us.

ROHWrestling.com also contacted Match Maker Nigel McGuinness for an update on how this would affect the championship held by Jay Briscoe and he informed us that there will be an announcement made soon regarding the status of the ROH World Title. Nigel did inform us that he intended to announce this week that Michael Elgin would receive his championship opportunity on August 3rd in Toronto but now that is in question. ROHWrestling.com has heard rumors that with Elgin scheduled to be the next man in line for a shot, he may be awarded the World Title due to forfeit.

All of the events that led to this will be seen on “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV broadcasts over the course of the next several weeks or you will be able to see it all unfold very shortly courtesy of the Early Bird TV options here on ROHWrestling.com.

Stay tuned for more details on the status of the World Title as they are made available...
So the way to get the title off Jay is no-show a defense and a forfeit victory for Elgin.

Now i'm convinced they are turning this into some sort of storyline, which in that case is fine.

It was too insane to think they would let their current champ walk away all willy nilly like that, but since it was ROH and we saw that happen once before, you could never be sure.
