It's 2013, I don't care if Darren Young (forget his real name) is gay. He's a good wrestling character, I like the Prime Time Players and at the end of the day, his life is his own business. Some will say he's just trying to capitalize on the times, but who cares? Isn't that the point of being an entertainer?

Not sure how the WWE handles this going forward in storylines, but it should be interesting. Not even sure if The Prime Time Players are booked for SummerSlam ... but if they weren't before, they are now.

This is a WWE pr move, Young didn't spur of the moment do this on his own. They're trying to drum up some mainstream pub for SummerSlam, and i'm guessing it's no secret within the company that Young was gay, so they probably approached him to see if he'd go with it.

I could be way off base, but that's my feel.

I don't keep up with wrestling the way you, Big Biss and a few others do. I had no clue Lombardi was gay (nor do I care).

Even if it's a PR move where Darren Young is concerned, I don't care. It will be good for his career and can't hurt gay people who want to just live their lives, IMO.

I have zero faith in WWE to handle this with any sort of class or decorum. They don't do anything subtly, we know this.

Even if we are past the point where they will overtly do something over the top and shameless, I think they'll end up unintentionally embarrassing themselves.

I feel bad for Young. I think ultimately he's fucked.

That's exactly what they shouldn't do, and what i don't expect them to do in 2013.

This is how they should handle it. It should never be mentioned on TV, ever. He should just be another guy on the roster. In media, fine, push this and get some positive pub. On screen it should never come up. And for god's sake, if they do make it part of his gimmick in any way, he has to be a babyface and he has to be pushed to some extent. But they can't really do that, because you can't have an anti gay heel in the PG environment. So just never bring it up.

And Warner...I agree. Darren Young's sexuality should never be mentioned on TV. Once he's gay on TV, he can't be anything other than the fully flaming homo...the WWE doesn't do subtlety. If he's gay, he's the most overt stereotype of a ghey this side of TNA Orlando Jordan (the WWE never goes full retard with that gimmick, it just makes everyone feel uncomfortable).

He'll probably end up with rainbow merch and shit, and they'll think they're doing it respectfully and all that, but nobody is more tone deaf to how incredibly crass they are at times than this company, so i'm sure with their lack of subtlety it will come off awful and groan worthy.
