I just watched the videos of NXT at wwe.com
I thought they handled Danielson's debut better than expected.
I never thought they'd ever recognize his independent work.
The name change really isn't that big a deal.
I think if the WWE were smart (a big if), The Miz would defend his U.S. title vs. Bryan Danielson (errrr Daniel Bryan) at Wrestlemania. It really would be a match of opposites.

oh and Michael cole is a cunt

If anyone was "no selling", it was Jericho. He was AWFUL in that match.

First, he blew a very simple bump on the dragon screw spot, by bumping in the completely wrong direction.

Then, he blew the spot right before the suicide dive, when he failed (refused?) to go over the top when Danielson delivered the hard flying elbow. Danielson even gave a little extra "nudge", and Jericho completely no sold the elbow and just casually fell over and rolled out of the ring.

As for the crazy suicide dive/table throw, i'm not so sure it wasnt a double cross. Why did Jericho sell the dive, when Danieslon took the entire impact? If that was a designed spot, it should have been a transition. But it wasnt, Danielson sold for a second, but then simply got up, "fired up", and retained control. Very awkward moment.

Jericho looked "off" the entire match. He's too good for that, so i'm skeptical. Draw your own conclusions.

If you are going to aknowledge his past, allow him to keep his look, and even push him based on all of those things, then why change the name? Makes no sense.

To that point, David Otunga is using his real name, and it has zero value.

The Danielson name change is 100% WWE ego sticking it to the internet. The change in direction of the Michael Cole character is the proof.

I would have kept his name too.

I wonder if there's a chance that could change?

Like you said, they've kept him as Danielson otherwise.

As for Michael Cole, who cares? He's always been a putz. I could care less what he thinks of any wrestler.

Cole is clearly doing a gimmick, I don't understand why people are getting upset. He's the "veteran" who thinks the rookies have something to prove, Mathews is the younger, "hipper" guy who reps the internet.

            I think it's great stuff.

If nothing else, the NXT thing is bringing some new talent out.
That can't be a bad thing.

I thought the show was great, and i'm really looking forward to next week. The Danielson push is being done brilliantly, which is a rarity for the WWE. The Miz is fantastic as the bully, and Danielson's facial expressions and mannerisms are very good. His "lack of charisma" is why he actually has charisma.

It's thanks to guys like you and Biss I discovered how great Danielson is.
Your Japanese videos helped me regain some of my love for real wrestling (I know, it's not real, but the fans get my point).

I think there is room for blander characters like Danielson. It gives contrast to the show.

I'm not a huge fan of The Miz, but he does have that character which does work.

I liked that comparison a page or two back - Bob Backlund. When no one thought Backlund could do anything in the mid-90s, he pulled it off.

Danielson is "on the surface" bland.

Nobody will be calling him bland a couple months from now. He understands how to get himself over, and has that sneaky charisma I mentioned earlier. They sent him out cold to open the show, and by the end of the hour, he was already over.

I think it's pretty cool they let him promote the fact that he is a 10-year veteran of the sport.

It's comical to me they are actually making it storyline how a guy could have wrestled around the globe for a decade-plus but because he never was in WWE, he's proved nothing. Get rid of the hollywood writers, REALITY ALWAYS SELLS.

But that's actually the real attitude of the company.

Anyway, that aspect of the story is fine, as long as it's only the heels who push it. They have Matthews to balance it out, and I think the idea is that Danielson is a guy who backs up his rep. So to me, it works.

btw - definitely agree with W2B in regards to Jericho...I'm thinking he no sold plenty on purpose...and blew the suicide dive spot.

                          Some "rookie" hazing, maybe?

                          If so, extremely unprofessional.

They did the same with Booker when he first jumped over. At least Dragon won't be dealing with HHH.

Can't say it has anything to do with Jericho wanting to keep his spot because dude's the champ right now.

I'm sure the "Uncle Vince doesn't think he's shit" topic has been beaten to death so I won't elaborate as far as Danielson goes.

Evan Bourne is a prime example of what could happen if Danielson makes it through... slow push towards a JTTS position.

As for the rest of the bums on this NXT show, it's great that FCW got the call-up for almost all of their current roster from this past summer but damned if they aren't all jobbers.
