I didn't think it was a work at first (and I still don't believe it was a work to begin with) but the fact that only Vince is handling this issue could mean it's now something storyline they are doing.Comment
-
It's not a work. He's gone. If they do reach an agreement and he does come back, it still wasn't a work.
You simply don't do something like this as a work unless you're Vince Russo or TNA.Comment
-
If he was coming back, they'd advertise it and pop a rating or make money off of it. Or, not say a word at all if they wanted to pop themselves for delivering a surprise.
Having Michael Cole leak something that 19 people on the internet will pick up on is the last thing they would do. This is a company that goes big. They'll either hit you over the head with it, or aim to completely shock you. This isn't Chikara trying to be too cute to amuse themselves.
And either way, not a work. Dude quit.Comment

NICHE of the NICHE
Host Chris Harrington (@mookieghana) is joined by Matthew Timmons of Kayfabermetrics for 90 minutes of discussion on the art and artifice of creating pro-wrestling statistics. We cover inspirations, the dataset challenges, inventing custom metrics, key learnings, great project names, overcoming hurdles and much more.
Matthew explains his novel approach for looking at “velocity” going into a PPV, what it means to be pushed (or buried) based on match length, how to rate opponents’ strength and more going far beyond the dull win-loss metrics that don’t really illustrate the full story. Also, we look at the weirdest keywords to gain readers, what tools we use, the mistakes that keep us up at night, the lonely life of making arguments using numbers and future goals.

For some reason this had me rollin..
Jake Roberts, the master of the DDT, gave props to Cameron for her DDT on Monday's RAW and says Randy Orton could learn from her. Here's what he tweeted:
"About time the DDT worked again. Cameron, show the others how its done. No one kicks out a real DDT. Maybe I have to show them myself. @WWE"
"Looked good Orton...but you did something wrong. Get with Cameron."Comment

Posting this here instead of puro thread, mostly because of the bold.
Okada vs. Goto was incredible as well. They had the disadvantage of following directly, but they got the crowd back to that level. Deep down, I don’t think anyone really thought Goto would win. And the heel champion was the crowd favorite. To me, this may have been the greatest performance of Okada’s career. He’s had better matches, but they were with Tanahashi, the best in the world. This was Okada playing the role of world champion against a contender, but not the top contender, and giving you a match put in a bad position and bringing it home as big as you can.
A key to the match is that Katsuyori Shibata was in Goto’s corner. The American finish would be that Shibata would cost his high school friend the title by screwing him at the end. The Japan finish was he rooted him on, the guy gave all he had, but in the end, Okada proved himself as the real champion. Okada and Shibata had a face-off, which likely builds a championship match on 4/6 at Sumo Hall in Tokyo for the annual Invasion Attack PPV. That show would take place the morning of WrestleMania.
The match wasn’t announced, as Shibata got in Okada’s face, issued a challenge, and Okada told him he would have to win the New Japan Cup tournament to get the shot.
In WWE or TNA, it would have all been a swerve and Shibata would have cost Goto the title when on the verge of winning it, ruining the match, making the champion look weak, and cheapening the great ending to the year long feud.
In New Japan, Goto loses a classic match fair & square, the champ gets put over as strong as ever, and Shibata steps up to the plate as the next challenger. And the champ tells him "go win the New Japan Cup, and earn a shot", which again puts over the title and puts over the tournament.
None of this is reinventing the wheel, but it all works to perfection. I really wish American wrestling was booked this way.Comment

It really works against iteslf anyway. In the beginning, the double-cross was a big deal because of the shock and the reaction. But now, it happens too often and is expected. I've always waited for the day when the inflated numbers of turns and double-crosses in America corrected itself, because now promotions are still chasing the reactions that really never happen anymore. I mean, when was the last heel turn that really mattered? Austin at X-7, which everyone hated anyway?Comment

This week's TNA notes from the Observer...
-TNA is looking to recruit indie talent that can go in the ring, and Taz is the front man to find guys. Big John Guberick is behind the idea and he's one of the major power brokers right now. The idea is they can get guys cheap, and give the TV a fresh coat of paint.
My take on that, is about damn time. They are going to do the same 1.2-1.5 million regardless. We've all preached they should do this. Sign fresh talent on the cheap and let them GO GO GO on TV, you might back into a star. Wolves are already getting over and havent even wrestled on TV.
-Wrestle-1 asked TNA directly if Russo is coming back, and TNA gave them no answer. LOL. Russo is back, folks. So the above news won't matter, and they are going to blow a good thing they had going with Wrestle-1. You can't make it up.
-Tommy Dreamer is back as an agent. This can only be bad if you remember his stint booking OVW in between Cornette & Heyman. Dreamer is the world's worst booker/agent/finish guy. Like, worse than Russo.Comment

So is CM Punk under the 90 day no compete clause? Would that affect him doing interviews and other media things?Comment
