Santino Marella is a two-time Intercontinental Champ and current tag-team champ.
That tells you what you need to know about the importance of title belts.

That said, Santino is fucking funny and entertaining, so he'd be on any wrestling roster I'd put together. There's a place for guys like him ... just not near belt territory.

Santino Marella is actually a REALLY solid wrestler. They've just killed any in-ring ability he has.

In OVW, Heyman used him as a Russian shooter.

Santino is one of the best all-around talents in the WWE , in my opinion. He never gets to show the ring work, but by most reports, he's capable. He's always entertaining on the mic, though I don't know that he's necessarily a "great promo guy" in the traditional sense.

Found a DVD set of 80s Texas wrestling that has me intrigued too. Match list (for W2B):

Why does he decide to cut a promo while driving?

I didn't listen to it all but if he knocks them, good, they deserve it. Jeff is wasting away not giving a shit and Matt stopped giving a shit a long time ago. Both are just collecting paychecks (good for them, but god damn are they boring now).

Its funny - the Hardy's have somehow gone from representing the "good" in pro wrestling (guys who got hired to the big leagues despite not being prototypical, being innovative, etc) to representing the bad. Then again, so have Edge & Christian in some ways.

Why is he making a video while he is driving his car? Could this not wait until he got home to call out the Hardys?

IMO the only Nexus guys (besides Punk obviously) worth a damn are Barrett, Husky and Gabriel.

They don't give 'em enough time to talk (besides Punk/Barrett) though so it's not like they grow.

I'm not saying that this will be an NWO Hollywood/NWO Wolfpac situation but it does lead to an interesting booking decision...

Punk had mentioned that he was going to lead Nexus to not only run RAW but also the entire WWE Universe (basically RAW and Smackdown) so what better way to do it than by having Nexus on both shows?

Barrett would have to swallow his pride and go to the 'B-Show' but in the end, with two fronts, it's a LOT easier to spread your message to the masses.

Plus, it could lead to Cena and the Big Show planning to pit the two groups against each other only to realize their mistake when the whole of Nexus gets together and beats 8-tons of shit out of them.

You've got CM Punk, Mike McGillicutty, David Otunga, and Husky Harris on RAW. Then Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater, and Justin Gabriel on Smackdown.

In my opinion, the Smackdown team is definitely stronger, and it looks like they're going to target Big Show in the same way the RAW team is targetting John Cena. I'm expecting an eventual 8-man cross-brand tag-team match between the 2 stables.
It is pretty genius...actually, some strong booking by the E, actually.

After a feud with John Cena, Nexus can't really go anywhere vertical on the roster...so, they, namely Barrett, needed to go to Smackdown so they can remain fresh.

The way they actually developed WOATunga's coup of Nexus to bring in Punk and the subsequent move of Barrett to the Blue only to have Punk be his sadistic, cult-like self while Barrett goes to Smackdown is great. Slater (who has grown on me, he isn't nearly as annoying when he doesn't talk) and Gabriel leave, while WOATunga, the guy staging the coup and the two front running new guys of Nexus stay, while the originals, plus a new recruit go to Smackdown to take over that show and remain fresh for another 6-8 months.

Probably one of the few strong book-jobs the creative team came up with in the past year other than Michaels-Undertaker.

The creative team basically will get over a year of fresh main event level heels at the top of the card from guys who were just called up...that is a pretty good investment. Barrett will stick...and as long as Gabriel and Slater stick with him, they will too. They make a good, organic group. Ring leader, tag team undercard guys, and the enforcer. Would like to see Skip Sheffield back in the mix. Always liked him. Before he went on Tough Enough, he was a poster on another wrestling forum I post on. Good guy who loves wrestling. Roided up like a mother though.
