Isn't the NWA Title that thing Alberto Del Rio and Christian are fighting for?

Nope. Look up the lineage. You really need to go beyond the WWE Universe, Dave.

            No.

The modern Smackdown title/WWE World Heavyweight Championship was created in 2002 by Eric Bischoff when he gave it to HHH as RAW's championship.

Brock Lesnar took the WWE Championship to Smackdown so they just copied the design of the Flair NWA belt.

The modern WWE Championship is the belt that dates back to 1963 when Buddy Rogers "won" a tournament in Rio. Reality...WWWF broke from the NWA because they wanted to promote their own champion and Buddy Rogers was the man...of course, he quickly dropped it to Sammartino who had a 7+ year run with it.

            -------

The NWA title is an interesting lineage that has been defended in nearly every significant promotion of the past 63 years. It was created in 1948 (Orville Brown). When Turner's group changed the name from the NWA to WCW in the early 1990s, it went back to being an independently run championship (by this time, WCW had its own world championship). Flair was the final WCW guy to hold it, that's when they had the one night tournament in Philly's Eastern Championship Wrestling show….Shane Douglas beat 2 Cold and then threw the NWA belt down and Extreme Championship Wrestling was born (summer 1994).

So for the better part of a year between the fall of 1993 and 1994, there was no NWA champion until they crowned Chris Candido on a joint Smokey Mountain/NWA show. By then, the title lost a lot of its luster because it had no TV presence (while WWF and WCW had national and international exposure). This is when there were guys like Dan Severn, Naoya Ogawa, Gary Steele, Mike Rapada, etc. holding the belt. After Severn's second run, the belt became exclusive to TNA in 2002 when they crowned Ken Shamrock as their first champion. The weekly PPV era saw other champions include Ron Killings, Jeff Jarrett and A.J. Styles. Then they get TV and it remained the NWA TNA Championship until the spring of 2007 when they separated.

It went back to being an independently run joint later that year when Adam Pearce won (Bryan Danielson may have been the one to get it but he suffered the detached retina from Morishima in ROH) it in Puerto Rico. Then Brent Albright beat Pearce at ROH DBD VI (I was there, Albright was super over that night…what the fuck ever happened to him?) before Pearce won it back the next month in Philly.

Blue Demon Jr. won the belt in Mexico and held it for nearly two years before dropping it back to Pearce ----> Cabana ------> Whoever this Sheik fella is

If we are going to be honest NWA Died around 89 and was meaning less after around 85. what David Marquez does with NWA Holliwood is the closest it has had to reliance as a company onto itself in along time, I had the displeasure of booking 6 months of shows for an affiliate down here, walked away after 4 months ... It is a mess

The short answer is yes, we had to turn people away that night but it was our anniversary show, we had the blow off of quite a few big feuds that night and Jimmy vs Masada 2, plus Paul London. The goal being to pop the DVDs sales as well.

all that said from the creative side I think we maybe gave them too much to digest.

DVDs do good man, Smartmark helps out alot with that vs your run of the mill indy doing there own.

Im working with a group in Dallas called Pro Wrestling Onslaught that is going to have iPPVs this summer, they are probably in way over there head, i'll tell you what i think after we film our first one

iPPVs really should be in the future plans of every indy wrestling federation. If you can afford the small overhead you're really going to benefit in the end.

My wife just informed me this weekend that she went to HS with some guy who just signed a WWE contract.

Went by the name Tyler Black in the previous organization.

Yep. Tyler Black is now known as Seth Rollins in Florida Championship Wrestling (WWE's developmental group).

Former ROH champ, pretty solid worker. He's from Des Moines.

He's now Seth Rollins and will probably be let go in the next 6 months.
