Seriously though, the Bobby Fish EVOLVE match is worth going out of your way for. And the Shingo match in DGUSA is a classic.
Thats what I got out of it. Release some inside info and pepper it heavily with ads for your DVDs. But I'd much rather see Danielson wrestling 30 minutes with guys like Aries, Sabin, Shelley, Styles, etc than under a minute submissions for about a year. Someone like Matt Morgan should be squashing guys because he could catch on wrestling 1 minute matches pretty hard I think. Which is not to say it's a bad plan, because it would easily sell. I just don't think it's what people would want to see. AmDrag's appeal isn't that he's Goldberg. No one buys a ticket hoping to watch him for 45 seconds, yourself included probably.

I don't buy Bryan Danielson as a monster, but I gotta admit I thought his match vs. Chris Jericho on NXT was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I was late joining the Bryan Danielson fan club, but that did it.
It's a shame he's so vanilla and mid-card in the WWE, he deserves better.

He (Heyman) made Taz, who, given, is a legit badass in real life, one of the most feared personas in the biz...he turned Chris Benoit, pre-psycho killing spree, into one of the more feared men in the biz, same with Malenko, Sabu, Rhino, etc.

Danielson, the best American wrestler in the world...coming off an angle where he was fired for choking out a random stooge on TV was giving Heyman boners, for certain.

You have this hot character amongst the wrestling community, who was thrown off WWE TV for being "too violent" come in and starting to choke everybody out...you just hot shot to the top of the card and made a legit draw for a company without a legit draw with a ridiculous amount of ease. You didn't even have to try, really. The shit would have written itself.

The problem is, you're going to take probably a top 5 worker in the country and have him work a bunch of 1 minute or less matches? Stupid.

The general idea is awesome I just don't like the one minute part.

Yup...and not stupid...you just make sure he doesn't run through the talent you want him to face once you've made him a draw. For example...you keep him away from Angle, Bobby Roode, AJ Styles, Joe (theoretically, not a lazy mopey fat bum with Heyman in charge)...basically, using the Goldberg formula...Goldberg didn't run through the heavy hitters until he was already a draw. Just a bunch of jobbers and undercard goons.

Remember, you are hot shotting a "heel" Goldberg monster at the same time. The idea is for both to hit their peak at the same time and have them collide at your biggest PPV, make it an undercard match, and you ultimately have this guy go over with the OH SHIT moment...now you bring in Angle and you let those two put on a MotY candidate.

Also remember, you hot shot him for 6 months or so...which is TNA land is like 8 tapings lol.

not at all if the 1 min matches are on free TV and they cause you to be
compelled to buy the PPV to see him wrestle a 20 min match

                    That's what I was thinking.

Squashes over jobber types on TV, longer matches on PPV.

And I agree with dave, the Jericho/Danielson match on NXT was the shit.

Even Vince was supposedly telling people that they made a star in one night. Of course, Vince is OCD and probably forgot about it two days later, but the match was as good a 7-minute match as you can get in terms of getting someone over. It didnt matter one iota that he lost.

Those types of matches get guys over, gets their finishers over and then PPV matches actually MEAN something.

how does every one get this?

also mid carders almost pulling one out on TV gets them over

If he's tapping a built up monster heel (likely on PPV), why wouldn't he be doing the same to lesser opponents?

I thought Danielson looked great that night ... and it was the night I became a Bryan Danielson fan. It's a shame the WWE never further expanded on his comments during an interview when he said all those You Tube videos were of Bryan Danielson, not Daniel Bryan. But I understand the WWE business model where names are concerned.

At the time, coming off of the red hot Jericho match, they were probably going to go all the way with the 'Bryan Danielson' thing, but like a lot of the shit they start, it likely got lost in the shuffle, or they changed their minds 19 times, and it was either forgotten or thought better of.

                                Who knows.
