Don’t know where reality begins and ends here. Last weekend, promoter Devon Nicholson (the guy suing Abdullah the Butcher, blaming him for his Hepatitis), ran a Randy Savage Memorial Show in Ontario with Lanny Poffo vs. Greg Valentine as the advertised main event, which drew 1,400 fans. Valentine wasn’t there. Nicholson then announced that Valentine had been paid for the show and didn’t appear, and later, put on the Internet the answering machine message that Valentine had left for him a few days earlier, complaining about how long it was going to take him to get there and wanting more money. In the message, he said that Lanny Poffo, his opponent, was an idiot if he was agreeing to travel with the same itinerary. It was on 8/31 when Valentine called and left a rude message saying he needed more money to come, that he was mad about his travel schedule (Tampa to Miami to Chicago to Ottawa and a two hour drive, plus going through customs and at 60 years old with all his injuries, that wouldn’t be a fun day, but that is the plight of working indies) was and wanted all his money up front (half of his pay had already been sent as a deposit). Nicholson said he called Poffo and asked what he should do, and Poffo said to cancel him. On 9/1, Valentine apologized, said he was sorry and drunk and said he would come if his second half of his pay was wired to him. Nicholson said that Valentine swore on a stack of bibles he would be there. On 9/2, he said he called Valentine several times and Valentine didn’t return any of his calls or text him. Since Nicholson had Valentine booked for future dates, he figured Valentine would come since if he didn’t, he’d be out three future payoffs. Valentine got the money, and at 1:30 p.m. before the show on 9/3, called and said his mother-in-law was very sick and he couldn’t make it. Valentine said he was planning on going, got the word from his wife that her mother wasn’t expected to live past 48 hours (she did and was recovering), so instead flew to see his mother-in-law in Nashville, where he was at. Nicholson then announced at the show that Valentine wasn’t there, had been paid all of his money and no-showed, and never mentioned anything about Valentine calling and saying his mother-in-law was on her deathbed. I’ve got no idea if he didn’t believe it, given Valentine does have a bad reputation when it comes to no-showing indies with no remorse and booking multiple shows on the same day and going to where the pay is the highest. Although that was not the case here. He said that he would send Nicholson back the money as soon as he returned to Tampa. Nicholson said Valentine never called again except to say he was mad at how it was announced at the show that he had no-showed. Anyway, this led to Poffo challenging Valentine to an MMA fight which they are earmarking for 12/30 in Gatineau, with Poffo claiming he’ll give Valentine $1,000 if he can beat him. Nicholson said that Valentine can keep the money he had sent him and he owes to him, and use some of it to book his own flight up.

I love how they send guys to FCW who can work circles around 95% of the main roster.
Castagnoli is in his 30's and has been training wrestlers for years.
I guess he has to learn to work those chin locks and narrow his stuff dwn to three easily recognizable moves. Oh, and make sure you face the hard camera when you hit that finisher!Comment

Having Rock wrestle before WM just kills the allure of seeing him back in the ring at WM.
Plus, you know they'll end up having them win the tag straps and use that crutch like they always do.

Can't they pop the Survivor Series buyrate by using Rock in a non-wrestling role though? Tease that he'll show up to beat the fuck out of Cena again.
