The only thing I don't get about Orton is how he's even remotely a face. He is not a face whatsoever.

Austin was a shitbird and a half until after he won the King of the Ring and bled out into unconsciousness against Bret Hart.

The fans will cheer for a baby-eating murderer if he kicks the shit out of a guy they don't like.

When he was gone...no one gave a shit.

When he returned...no one gave a shit.

He came back, completely changed his gimmick, and had an amazing run...really the best run of his career, and went up a level from a great pro wrestler to a Hall Of Fame pro wrestler.

His feud with HBK, the Edge/Big Show stuff, his "hollier than thou" gimmick/promos....he was often the high point on any WWE show he was involved in.

His return a few years ago was a slam dunk, home run, unmitigated success. I'm shocked you feel otherwise.

they tried to recreate his original debut, it was ok..he came back, with the short hair and same character as before...his fued with 0rton was lackluster and his midcard feud with JBL was forgettable..
He floundered around for a few months before re-inventing himself with the HBK program which was awesome.
